I’m aware of that. My point is why not have it during the actual fur bearer season when the pelts have the highest monetary value. Guarantee these are going to the landfill which is a gigantic waste of a resource and more fuel for anti hunters and trappers.

Season closes at the end of February. I’m a trapper and I hate these contests. The fur isn’t prime so essentially worthless, just killing to kill and dumping them in a landfill. Great fuel for the antis.

In South Dakota the limit is 4. That’s plenty. And keeps the fishing great!

Agree with CW, coyotes get it when they get involved in a turkey hunt…well any hunt for that matter.

Coyotes don’t strut and gobble and turkeys are way better eating

I’ve had good luck frosting seeding during warm spells like we’re in currently. I usually go higher than the suggested rate.

We don’t get super creative with naming the deer. Here’s some pics of deer I’ve killed that were named. The wide 8 The chode buck…9” bases and not much else “The big one” scored around 180 Super 6….scored close to 120” and won big 6 point at the deer classic back in 2014 ish

Totally on board with making the fines absolutely ludacris! If you want to poach, trespass, etc, fine the absolute shit out of them, confiscate vehicles, weapons, and jail time. Loss of hunting privileges doesn’t do anything in my opinion. Not on board with yet another license to buy to hunt at...

Curtis is 100% correct on the access issue for coyote hunters /trappers. I used to trap/call the neighbors place and did well there. As soon as the neighbors decided they were going to deer hunt more then one weekend a year, I couldn’t get in there until deer season was over.

There should be none. Unless you’re caught in the act of poaching.

I used mine on a late season track job. Shot a buck, went back and got lights and thermal scanner. Followed an excellent blood trail and bumped the deer. Should’ve been using the scanner…brought the scanner up and he looked in rough shape. Backed out and found him the next morning. I was hoping...

Random thought, What about using a thermal scanner to help recover a deer?

Took my daughter ice fishing today. Caught her first fish through the ice and more importantly we had a ton of fun!

Innocent until proven guilty…except for guys with thermals, they’re all poachers.

It’s obvious!!! Any deer found with a bullet wound was from a person with a thermal scope and a suppressor. Case closed! I’ve solved the 40 some odd page thread on how to make iowa great again…no thermals would equal literally millions of deer…boom trophy bucks return!!!
