    Retrieving game law

No way. A landowner should have latitude to say no. Bucksnbears said earlier he would access land to do small pushes, credit him for honesty, under the premise of a wounded deer. If a landowner feels something isn’t right he/she can deny.

    HF 2657 - special lottery for non-residents

From Jane Bloomingdale today: I have received a few emails about HF 2657 and wanted to provide some clarification. As I’ve worked with several groups on this bill, the goal is to support tourism and hunting in Iowa while potentially giving preference to nonresidents who have meaningful ties to...

    HF 2657 - special lottery for non-residents

Is the Texas guy the friends of Iowa dude from years ago? His handle here was Orion whitetails I believe.

    HF 2657 - special lottery for non-residents

Yes. It’s own 160 ac or more, or if a tax return is filed with the state of Iowa.

    HF 2657 - special lottery for non-residents

She’s one legislator. Don’t get too comfortable. They’re used to every Iowa conservation lobbyist opposing nr legislation. It’s on the debate calendar, doesn’t mean they’ll hear it, but they can.

    HF 2657

Just got an email from the IBA on this. This bill provides resident hunting privileges to a NR who files an iowa tax return. Two amendments filed yesterday. One, allocates half of the NR tags to those who file a return. Secondly, provides resident hunting privileges to a NRLO owning 160 or...

    Sheds

Over the past couple days . Couple good dead heads. I’m really disappointed about the far left dead head. Would have been a stud this year. ATTACH=full]131164[/ATTACH]

    Retrieving game law

Private property is private property. I don’t like the idea of a hunter trespassing because a deer maybe died on the wrong side of the fence. Out of respect you make an effort and contact the landowner (herd manager), 99% of the time permission is granted to retrieve the animal. In my...

Thank YOU- see you at the Deer classic ….

Was there Saturday. Listened to Bill Winkes presentation. His session was standing room only as well. Wanted to hear Skip and Lee but had enough of the crowd. It’s almost too crowded, can’t stop and look at anything, people pushing constantly.

    Retrieving game law

The fence sitting thing is a joke. What’s acceptable?? 20 yds , 50 yds etc off the line ? I personally will not limit my acreage to hunt like that. If you own the property you can hunt it, fence nearby or not. Just don’t shoot game on property you don’t own or don’t have permission to hunt...

    Retrieving game law

Half of ONX info is wrong anyways. They only update every couple of years. With a little effort most landowners can be found. If the owner can’t be found a neighbor usually knows them. At least in my neighborhood.

Tough day on the farm. Lost 2 good bucks

I think the intent and result speak for itself even if, by some random chance, an officer was watching. Your choices are shoot a side off, get close with saw and maybe get gored or let them die. Easy choice. Officer or not. It’s along the lines of everyone makes a video of the assault with...

Story time. How did you buy your first farm?

I’ve owned the same piece, added to over the years, for 23 years. Will never sell it. Could care less about the flipping BS. I have more blood, sweat, tears and memories there that no amount of money could pay for. My kids can get rich when I die.

    Current state of farming/ag

Sounds like a journey of life lesson regardless of chosen profession. Can’t start at the top at 23 years old unless it’s handed to you. Put your time in and navigate the peaks and valleys. You win some and lose some. Life 101.

HUNTERS PER SQUARE MILE OF TIMBER & HABITAT ACRE BY STATE…

It doesn’t pass the smell test. I’ve been hunting my 2 mile square block in zone 5 for 23 years. My block is 1500 acres and I have access to another 600 ac to the west. No way are numbers that high. I’m retired and spend nearly the entire deer season in camp. I don’t see it. Sorry to argue...

HUNTERS PER SQUARE MILE OF TIMBER & HABITAT ACRE BY STATE…

Basic searches based on type of habitat put the numbers between 2.7 and 11. Those numbers seem logical. How is 37 being found. If 12 guys show up and drive my neighbors piece for 40 minutes in shotgun season does that count towards the total?? The addition, subtraction or non consideration...

HUNTERS PER SQUARE MILE OF TIMBER & HABITAT ACRE BY STATE…

Again. All the alleged data. Where are we going with this????? I will also argue Iowa has 37 hunters per square mile. Not a possible number. I havnt seen 37 people in 23 years hunting Iowa.
