    200 inchers?

They may not spook deer but they sure do miss lots of pic taking opportunities. I set a browning black ops next to a cuddelink and there were 3 to 1 pic totals difference. I still use the cuddes in spots I can't use a cell cam but want relatively recent info.

    Double cropping food plots

Good plan. If you grow soybeans and don't mind running over a few rows, broadcast wheat or rye over the beans when the leaves start to yellow and you'll have a fine rye/wheat plot to help them through the winter as well as get some cover crop benefits in.

    Turkey population…

The same thing has happened in NE as well. Turkey numbers have plummeted. Conversations with state wildlife guys says they are seeing it all over and have no idea why it is. Lots of theories but nothing concrete. Everywhere I have hunted turkeys I have seen them go down rows of newly planted...

Bigger antlers in years with right weather ....

My dad talked to some cattle guys a couple weeks ago and they said their calves they are selling as feeders are 80 to 90 pounds heavier in same time frame compared to other years and a friend of mine who buys feeder pigs and raises until fat hogs has his averaging 308 pounds from 20#s on Nov 29...

I had my first one on me two weeks ago and I even saw grasshoppers then too. crazy. Saw a lot more grasshoppers yesterday when I was shredding some crp

    Cedar tree removal

It's good to keep some shagbark hickories around. Shagbarks are good bat habitat trees. They hide/sleep/nest in the turned out bark pieces.

    CP25 vs CP4D CRP Programs

Fields, an intern did one county. He was a great guy and I hope he landed somewhere. Whoever got him in their office got a good one. smithhunter, what that guy told you sounds like what the people said in both counties. There evidently is a new sheriff in town.

    CP25 vs CP4D CRP Programs

Daver, it used to be exactly as you described but in talking to the agents they said they have been directed to keep a close eye on crp fields now for compliance and admitted they didn't bother in previous farm bill/crp years. They said the were being directed to do so from the highest level.

    CP25 vs CP4D CRP Programs

The two offices I deal with really make it seem like it is a major chore to do that and really don't have the time to do that when I ask for multiple scenarios on field I want to put in. What is a pain is the two offices I work with have been closed to visitors during covid for the majority of...

    CP25 vs CP4D CRP Programs

Perhaps in IA but I think it has changed considerably in NE based on conversations I've had with crp owners and nrcs employees this past year in NE. The two counties i know rather well have went after compliance full force(120 miles apart). People have received letters saying their crp isn't in...

Is it a legal muzzle loader in your state. It was for a while in NE but no longer is. Just a head up, in case

    Logging Cedars

Above ground it is very slow to rot but below ground it rots fairly quickly. I used it for posts for a welcome sign on lane adn for target shooting platform and they are slowly rotting away. They have been in the ground approx 11 years. Hedge/osage orange is what I'd call slowest to rot

    Cell Cam Trail Cams

I own 16 spypoints with the average price of a little over 80.00. I haven't had an issue with them yet and they have taken thousands of pics. If you own several it pays to be a club member with "250" free pics every 30 days. I bump up to 1000 pics for Oct and Nov on a few of the cameras and...

Best and worst cheap trail cams.

I recommend the 2 pack of spypoint micro for 150.00 for two. They just came off sale for that at academy sports/bass pro matches price. I've seen them at that price several times this past year. You get 100 free pics to your phone but the best part is it takes quality pics, day and night...

    Crp changes

Yes, if one has safe as an option, one is good to go. NE don't have safe because apparently our fsa gov employees can't write up a plan for it to get accepted by feds in time. That's how the FSA explained it to me. They tell me that hopefully next year NE will have a plan written up that is...

    Crp changes

I would put everything into continuous but there is a lot more qualifications to meet to put it into those initially. The choices I have for my farms are limited and I suspect they are for most. If one has creek bottoms or water sources those are a continuous and only so much of a farm can be...
