I like it! Let's continue to do the opposite of others states and make hunting harder while increasing age structure. Iowa will continue to be #1 if they keep this trend going. I heard people complaining from other states by saying more NR hunters will flock to their state now. I say fix your...
My enlist beans this year are getting hammered. It's hard to get growth on them with about 12 acres planted. It would almost be a good thing if deer didn't eat them so much to help in getting them established better.
I see a lot of bucks in Iowa with abnormal sides. More than anywhere else I've ever hunted. What do you think causes so much of this? I think it might be fighting and a pedicle is damaged?
I was cutting a grown-up cereal grain plot last week and bumped a newborn out. He could barely trot off being so young. I was watching real close for them while cutting.
Everyone says this but they try to shoot a good sized buck instead of shooting the first spike they see. They rely on other hunters to manage for large racks so they can shoot one..Iowa's draw is not to shoot small bucks, everyone all over the country wants to come here and shoot a trophy
Change your question to.....Do you agree NR hunters should not be allowed to party hunt. Your current question doesn't match up to the yes or no answers.
I would venture a guess and say a huge percentage of Iowa residents will support no party hunting for nonresidents. A small percentage like yourself will not like it, and that is to be expected. No way to get 100% on every rule change or cleanup. There are some rules now that I do not like and...
I'd be for it too. I don't know the numbers on bucks killed during muzz, but I do know a lot of young bucks get shot during this season (especially late muzz). I'd be all for increasing age structure and actually making hunting harder(not easier). Don't all the long-range muzzleloaders use a...
Sums it up accurately in my opinion. Originally in the Midwest rifles were not allowed because of flat terrain and the danger of hitting a house, structure, livestock, or people. Now muzzleloaders shoot 500 yards or more. So, it's just like shooting a high-powered centerfire rifle now. I wonder...
I think the celebrity hunters don't like to address anything controversial because most of their listeners prefer things like guns in the rut, crossbows, not hunting age, etc... They tread lightly on anything that could influence the number of viewers they get. There was a great podcast...
Mega bucks are a needle in a haystack it seems..I'm betting in most of Iowa less than 3% of the bucks out there are over 170..Then you get into the 180s, 90s and 200 it's 1% or less. So much involved to get a true giant these days. These bucks need some luck to get to maturity.
^^^^. It seems like everywhere in the Midwest has less mature bucks now than in the past. I had an incredible farm in Illinois but had 2 bad neighbors that bordered me. They pounded the young good genetic bucks, and it destroyed the area. I sold because of that. Even in Iowa it's an issue...
Steve(hans1), what do you think about this? I still think trigger control is a huge factor in areas not producing the giants they did in the past. Cell cams have only been around a few years and now hunters see a high scoring buck on camera and rush to the farm to hunt him..Plus some...
But does this apply to 1031 exchanges that are finally cashed in? If so, it's a great way to avoid a huge tax..Just live off cash for one year and sell your farm(s).
Ok..I didn't know if final 1031 sales were effected by income at all..I know al lot of things associated with capital gains are based off income, but land evidently isn't one of them.Thanks.
I'd love to know what the neighbors are like surrounding that larger parcel..I'm betting a lot of bucks get shot by neighbors and EHD is more than likely taking a fair number of mature bucks too.
