    Hungry Coyote question

Well, so much for a "quick" question with a straight forward answer! Seriously though, thanks for the input guys.. LoessHillsArcher says toss the entire deer. Muddy says toss half the deer meat. JNRBRONC says cook it well...sorry, medium rare for me at most. And then there's Ishi with the...

    Hungry Coyote question

Quick question, Shot a deer on the 10th (miserable in the freezing rain!). Thin blood and rain so I knew my chances of recovery were probably better to back out and grid search in the morning. Found my deer, but yotes chewed up both my rump roasts. Was able to salvage about 1/2 of each. I...

Didn't think you'd be in the tree today. Sorry about that.

    THE WISCONSIN STORY.....

I own 10 acres. Neighbor 1 owns 40. Neighbor 2 owns 30. Neighbor 3 owns 80. Neighbor 4 owns 20. You know what all these places have in common? They all have a driveway, most of them are long. And on the front of my truck is a plow. Guess who I plow every time it snows. Guess who has a shovel...

    THE WISCONSIN STORY.....

Some of the Wisconsin hunters are saying you can't hardly see deer anymore. Not uncommon to hunt all day and not see anything. However the DNR is reporting record numbers. Is the DNR fudging numbers to keep license sales up? What's your opinion on the population compared to years past?

    THE WISCONSIN STORY.....

So I did some digging. I'm not calling anyone a liar. I'll leave the finger pointing to you fellas in Wisconsin. I'd like to know what you guys think. The Wisconsin DNR is claiming a nearly 2 million deer population. That's about 4 times the number of deer in Iowa. Total BS? I'll link at...

    THE WISCONSIN STORY.....

Really good discussion here. Could not agree more with the "no guns during rut" crowd. If it were up to me, I would back up the start of gun season another week. Areas of large doe population where I live can see breeding activity well into Dec. Here's what I just don't get... How can the...

Please help me kill a deer

Oh, that's good! After 20 years of marriage I just get slapped anymore for humor like that. ;)

I've talked to quite a few.......

Tons of deer here. Just as many as ever. Very quiet though last weekend and mysteriously quiet out there this morning. Took a drive and saw no orange. Need some gunners here or next years rut is going to suck!

    Late Muzzleloader

I've never even attempted late muzzy public but I can only imagine. Best advise I could offer would be to get sited in at 400 yds. :)

    RUT ACTIVITY UPDATES?

So did you hunt tonight?... or watch the Iowa Minnesota game. Not sure I saw it correctly. What was that final score? ;)

    RUT ACTIVITY UPDATES?

I was wondering if anyone had a big enough pair to go sit in a tree this morning. Figures it'd be you! :) Count me out, I'm not man enough!

    Afternoon timber hunting

I also hunt doe bedding areas. Rarely do I see a buck in the summer. Bedding areas can be an amazing place to be in the mornings! Seems that first light till 1/2 hour after sunrise is the first flurry of activity.....but don't get down! 2 hours after sunrise seems to be the second rush hour...

    RUT ACTIVITY UPDATES?

I had an odd hunt this morning. First light revealed a forky, a pair of 3 yr olds and a 5 yr old 12 pt stud..8" split brows, all of them mingling together around one doe. There was some pushing and shoving, but no all out brawl. I was watching the group in open alfalfa from 120 yds , and...

Nothing wrong with that. Sitting in a tree can wear a guy out! Get recharged and drop another big boy!

A wise and patience old man (the buck:)) Great advice to any young hunter. I learned this the heartbreaking way. Yup. A normal distraction. Me and my son have to use this tactic with my wife at times. :) I wouldn't call it a whiff. 35 yds is a long shot for an ......OK, for...
