True. They are here in MO though however.
Lots of great points in this thread. As other have mentioned, no lawmaker ever repeals laws. It’s always a one way street..
Is trophy hunting (encouraged by social media) working against us?
- Hypothesis of more recent Huntr podcast (Lindsey episode): Fewer hunters holding more access.
Loss of access due to changes in hunting culture. We all see our parents and grandparents generation centered around deer...
Same. Lots of guys here in Mid MO trying to get one field in here and there.
Going to be a tough time figuring out when to combine due to all the differences in start timing..
Brillion makes great pieces of equipment. Love my PP6 pulverizer. Not a cheap ATV tool by any means..
Clover, brassicas, switchgrass, etc.. No problem. Leaves a great seedbed.
Mud scraper option is worth it IMO.
Don't go too heavy on the grain sorghum. 10-12# / acre max if broadcast. I wouldn't go heavier than 10# / acre drilled.
When I mix with GS, I still go 75#+ per acre of beans in this mix.
The decline of deer numbers in Iowa are likely the single biggest contributor IMO. You now have more people hunting the fewer, better bucks. This has compounded the issue.
I've seen the opposite happen here in MO. Rise of population overall numbers, has increased population of better bucks...
Agree!
As another option, I've gone to mixing soybeans and grain sorghum mix in smaller 1-2 acre plots. Gives them summer food along with a great stand of milo for fall/winter. Anything leftover from the beans are just a bonus.
Got this idea from Dbltree in the milo plot thread. Although...
I thought the point of killing massive amounts of does late season (all carrying dominant buck fawn genes) was quite the eye opener. Had not thought of that before..
Shooting pregnant does - Culling out all the best genetics ?? Then surrounding area does backfill with lesser buck fawns from...
That's like banning multivitamins when people get a cold.. Guess I don't see the logic in a very social animal structure.
I'd rather feed with vitamins and minerals to strengthen the animal, and give it a chance to survive from what is certain exposure.
From my "limited" reading and knowledge on the subject, it appears all they can say is that it is "possible". But as you pointed out, there are no solid confirmations to say either way.
I know CWD has been confirmed in deer since the 1960s, who knows how long it has existed before that.. ...
Yea, I’d be curious as well.
Some second rate news sources starting to plant the “possible” seeds on this one. Not that there’s an agenda or anything..
