The first Pic is my first deer killed in the early 90s
The 2nd Pic is my first bow deer killed in 1998
The 3rd Pic is my first "big" buck. 144" 8 point killed in 2003.
It's amazing how quickly time goes by.
Based on my limited experience this past year, I'd wait till at least the middle of May. My early plantings took too long to get going and I ended up with a lot of competition. I think I'd of been better off with a later kill and planting into warmer soils so the rc would take right off.
I post some of my kills here and on habitat talk. I do that because I feel I should give back to the sites and add content occasionally instead of only consume. If nobody posts, those sites will die. Anyone who was around before skip bought the site knows what that looks like.
I can't kill sligh...

Here he is taking a smoke bath before a successful hunt last October.
I wouldn't say we're devastated in my area. I found 18 ehd dead on 1 property last fall, mostly smaller does and fawns, but it still seemed fairly normal during season. We didn't kill any does on that farm last year but it really didn't feel like they were lacking all that bad. Maybe we...
if I'm reading right, you'll have over 6 acres of other plots with grains, brassicas etc. In that case, if you have someone willing to bale and maintain the alfalfa, I'd let them put the whole field in. Alfalfa is a great plot until late season, then you need grains. I would not go with...
