Velvet shedding & buck dispersement - where they go?

I hunt a few farms that have very thick low lying timber cover and bucks just aren't there in the summer despite there being crops & alfalfa surrounding the cover. But they show up like clockwork late September through October on those farms. My thought process was that they want to be somewhere...

    Buying land, realtors…..

Probably more important if you're buying but what I've noticed is most good farms or deals don't make it to market/online listing. So I'd say if you're buying with an agent, you need to feel confident that your agent or agent's company has a strong network or ability to network to find farms...

    Dead ash timber improvements??

Thanks for info. I can't really see anything significant for hardwoods that are coming up in these dead areas yet it just looks like reeds canary grass hung up on all the ash deadfalls and treetops which have created a bunch of pocketed deer beds. I was just glad to not see bush honeysuckle.

    Dead ash timber improvements??

More than half already on the ground I'd say. Of those still standing most are dead all the way up

    Dead ash timber improvements??

Hi Guys. Recently closed on a new farm and am looking for some input on an area - anyone done anything for habitat improvement/TSI in timber that was recently wiped out from emerald ash borer? It's a small central timber hub (about 15 acres timber total with 2021 summer aerial below) that's...

    Land Prices Out of Control

My two cents is that I think there are enough rec ground buyers that aren't going to be affected by commodity prices & interest rates - I think most good rec ground pieces are unlikely to ever drop in value even if there is somewhat of a "crash" in the ag space (at least I'm not betting on it...

HF 60 NR tag allocation for outfitters

I also received the exact response, word for word, from Baxter. Also received a response from Tom Jeneary, 5th District and Natural Resource Committee Vice Chair, in favor of the bill via another copy paste email that didn’t address any of what I had included in my initial email to the house...

HF 60 NR tag allocation for outfitters

Curious, what points did Baxter hit on for being in favor? I’ve only gotten three no responses from districts 29, 66 & 85 (all blue). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

HF 60 NR tag allocation for outfitters

I sent my opposition to this to all 100 house member emails and also received two responses so far pointing out that Charlie McClintock (Charlie.mcclintock@legis.iowa.gov) in district 95 is running this bill. At minimum, it’d be great if we could keep emails going out to our own house reps...
