Was driving around the other day and saw a smaller deer running at the edge of a field. A second later, out pops a coyote chasing it! Hope the deer got away!
Agree, over a larger area and they have to search for it. Possibly helps with them not eating it all at once. Works pretty well in a taller stand of grass. I don't usually put out much grain unless I have extra on hand. Sometimes a little over/around the hay just to entice the deer a little...
I've done hay and corn in the past, but mostly just grass hay as that's what I have on hand anyway. One square bale will last quite a while, but seems like we've had some pretty mild winters with not much snow cover. I'd say they hit it harder with a good amount of snow as it's easier to get...
Wondering what people recommend for a sight/scope on a revolver, .357 mag specifically. Primarily for hunting purposes as either secondary gun or during late muzzy. The gun is pretty heavy/big for home defense and have other options for that. Thanks!
I've done it several times in the past with my brother. Not very effective, but can be done. If you know a good exit route for the deer, one could post there and then the other just kind of zig zag through the area to see what they kick up. We've also walked each side of main ditches to see...
Yep, just have to keep hoping and getting out! I've passed several what I believe to be 3 yr and under to let them grow. I'll take a doe before intentionally taking a young buck. I have mature deer on camera and have seen some of them from the stand, but they sure know how to keep their distance!
Congrats on a great deer! On my 10th year without a buck myself. Haven't had much for shots on decent bucks, let alone what I consider mature. Elusive animals for sure!
Thanks! Forgot to ask about how bulky the feet are and noise for moving around on a stand. I know you mentioned saddle hunting, but wondering about on a hang on or ladder stand. I would probably put it on in the stand, so not worried about climbing with it. Wondering about turning to look...
I contacted their customer service regarding whether the issue could be fixed and estimated cost. They responded saying the warranty was a 2 year from purchase date, so not applicable on mine. They stated they cannot repair or replace out of warranty items, but did offer several models for...
I have a Leupold RX-600 rangefinder that I bought about 13 years ago. Been going strong until this year. The 10's digit doesn't fully show clearly when I range. I can faintly see part of the number while other parts are still dark. Tried a new battery thinking that may be the problem, but no...
Was just talking about needing something like this yesterday. I use the foam ear plugs on the plastic band for mowing and wear them around my neck for shotgun season, but sometimes don't have time to get them in before needing to take a shot. If I'm on stand and see something coming in from...
