Moved back for a better job opportunity and to be close to family and friends again. Loved living in Iowa though and will be back deer hunting any time I can draw a tag! I could see myself moving back one day once the kids are grown and gone. Merry Christmas to everybody.
I was lucky enough to draw an Iowa bow tag this year and headed back to the Iowa public land for a 10 day hunt November 5-15. The first few days were slow for big boys but saw a lot of young bucks on the prowl. Things picked up on the 7th and some better deer showed up too as I passed 2 bucks...
I honestly don't know why anybody leases land in Iowa. There are better opportunities on public land than probably 80+% of the land being leased. I'm talking bow season. Gun season its a crap shoot.
