    Disappointing Iowa Gun opener

Yeah, but once you fill your tag, you are tagged out and can't push the next drive. The group dwindles if they are hunting per the rules

    Gun bucks

Here is the score card from this weekend *EHD carcasses-11 *Our group of 12 - 2 bucks The bucks were shot by a middle schooler on the second property we hunted on Saturday. Both were mature bucks We intentionally passed on does/fawns. We saw about 7 of those and two other bucks. Six of the 10...

No Doe shooting for ME…. U guys down?

It's gotten better. People are more open to educating themselves on what it takes to get desired deer to grow. But, for each of those pockets there remains the imbalance between less and less standing timber, consolidation of private land ownership, and too many hunters each wanting to get a...

No Doe shooting for ME…. U guys down?

I have a family member in Harrison whose whole neighborhood does QDM and they have great age structure. Now at the point where they cull bully bucks. But, can second that EHD hammered the area. Western Shelby and Crawford both got decimated by EHD this fall and was hit hard just two years ago too

No Doe shooting for ME…. U guys down?

Our group is going buck only first season and another big group considering not going out at all. West Central Iowa, terrible EHD losses found in CRP during pheasant hunts.

Farmland Prices definitely off the highs

They need to fire the realtor/auctioneer. Sealed bids is a recipe for lower prices

A second ARCHERY tag in Iowa??

You've now edited three of your previous comments. So, yes, that's what it appears you are saying now. But initially your comments suggested that anyone can just go buy two acres, qualify for a LOT, and then use it wherever they pleased. Have a great day and good luck this season

A second ARCHERY tag in Iowa??

You made it seem like anybody who has a house with a large yard off the county blacktop would qualify and that simply isn't the case.

A second ARCHERY tag in Iowa??

Must be operated for ag purposes is far more than simply owning two acres in a rural area

A second ARCHERY tag in Iowa??

There is also more to it than simply owning two acres

A second ARCHERY tag in Iowa??

It's got to be the right 2 acres bc a landowner tag is only good for the land you own. You can't simply take that tag anywhere to fill it

    Current interest rates!

As you can see, $4 corn would be $2/bushel below the 2023 insurance guarantee and the average price we got for our 2022 crop was $7.10, so yet another $1+ from the year before that. On better than average Iowa ground at 225 bushel/acre, our 2022 crop had revenue of $1600/acre, the 2023 crop...

    Current interest rates!

Our crop insurance guarantee was for $5.91/bushel so we are locked in with that as our floor.

    Current interest rates!

We are about to head into a recession; so I can't see rates climbing much more than another 0.25% unless the US credit rating gets hit again from the debt ceiling debacle. Reason being, with 45 million people resuming student loan payments this month, that is a lot of spending that will have to...
