    Clover

I usually do closer to the 10#/acre for white clover. Thought I remember someone saying you can't really seed clover too heavy. Seed cost isn't that much unless you are doing a really big plot.

    Fun weekend chasing snows

A bunch of us used to go after them in South Texas for a week each fall. Typically ended up with a couple hundred each year. Boned most of them out, mixed with some prk and made bratwurst. Pretty durn good stuff!

    Fun weekend chasing snows

Love it! Whacking snows is great fun!!! Plus it's guilt free. Kinda like fishing hatchery salmon! Congrats on a fun time!

    Stock fitting

Every Boyd's stock I've ever dealt with has been pretty much a "drop in" job. Unless you are doing a barrel with a unconventional contour, Boyd's stocks shouldn't require much, if any, inletting at all.

    Scopes for Bushmaster 450

As far as scopes goes, the VX-1 & VX-2 lines from Leupold are pocketbook friendly. Have a number of 2s on some hard hitting guns that have never given me any problems at all. Heard good things about Vortex also. Only have one Scheels scope & it's on a 22/250, so recoil not a big concern there.

    Scopes for Bushmaster 450

We should probably all wear hearing protection all the time when shooting. I wish I had started many years ago. That said, all muzzle breaks should come with a discount coupon for hearing aids!!! Many years ago I took 3 shots at a deer with a 30 mag rifle with a muzzle break & no hearing...

    frost seeding

No! Do it! If you can get the seed onto bare dirt you should be good to go.

    Ufc

I watched a similar interaction over a carcass a couple years ago. Difference was the bald was a mature bird rather than a juvenile. Outcome was very different. "Age and treachery will always beat youth and exuberance." David Manet ;)

HF 2108 changes definition of what is and isn't bait for deer and sets distances from baited areas.

It's already out there. Just need to read the labels and pay attention to what you're putting down. I believe even adding dried molasses to your mineral would make it "bait" rather than mineral.

HF 2223 Fishing on private lakes or ponds

OK, Daver, you "keyboard" faster than me... ;) As my mother used to say "great minds run in the same gutter".

HF 2223 Fishing on private lakes or ponds

Back in the day, when the state was willing to stock private ponds for free, I could see allowing them a say in setting regulations. Since they no longer do that, (and paid nothing to help build the pond), that's exactly how much input I think they should have over who fishes it, what the limits...

HF 2217 land owner deer and turkey tags

Got it now. Landowner anysex tag would be good for one deer, in any season. In the past you had to select from archery, early muzzy, "shotgun" 1 & 2, or late muzzy. It was not limited to just shotgun, at least not in the last 30 years...

HF 2217 land owner deer and turkey tags

Either I don’t understand the current laws or the proposed changes, at least as it pertains to deer hunting, but I don’t understand what you are saying. Landowner tags are not currently restricted to shotgun season only.

Improving/Releasing Native Grass in Open Areas

If you have a Pheasants Forever chapter nearby, you might check with them about a native grass drill or where to find one. Most native drills are designed to skip over buried rock if you go slow. Good luck!

    Predator control

The Snare Shop https://www.snareshop.com/ has both snares and parts needed to build your own. Good luck!

White pine plantation with bark beetles killing trees

To the best of my knowledge, your best insurance is to go with what nature has already selected for most of Iowa... plant cedars. At least until a new pestilence or plague comes along and starts killing those.

    Smokeless ML Project

Who’s doing the build for you? If it’s Luke (Arrohead Sporting Goods LLC), just ask him. He’ll get you started. Otherwise, forums like Doug’s Message Board have a lot of info that should help.
