Senate version of NRLO bill SSB 3129

This morning I emailed Dr Wendong Zhang, the Director of Iowa State University’s semi-annual farmland value survey, and asked for rec ground nrlo stats. His response: “We have information about the general farmland but not for rec ground only. For all Iowa farmland, 80% of land is owned by...

We’ll sure it does. We’re talking about rec ground being allegedly taken from residents if nrlo regs change. You can’t lump in land owned for a commercial operation. Especially outside the hunting hot zones. Completely different market.

Senate version of NRLO bill SSB 3129

First, you must differentiate between Rec landowners and farming operations. I too have seen numbers that included farming businesses. I would like to see the source for NRLOs at 20 to 50% in a county in relation to rec ground. Asking for the source. I talked to this person or that person is...

Senate version of NRLO bill SSB 3129

Where are you getting the 20 to 50% NR land ownership numbers per county? Is your source so ambiguous that numbers fluctuate by 30%? Provide the data base, I would like to take a look at my county. Thanks

Idk. I still may rent. Lol. I’m under cutting myself.

Senate version of NRLO bill SSB 3129

Id drop my crp and rent. I would make more renting to a farmer. If that’s what they want so be it, but the crp thing makes no sense. I was told it’s in there because some legislators don’t want a landowner to pay for property using federal money. 20 years ago that may have been true...

    Point well taken

Senate version of NRLO bill SSB 3129

Land was bought and sold in 80 acre parcels many moons ago for farming, right? Idk. I think that’s why 80 is the choice. I don’t know though. Had something to do with the Homestead Act.

One buck only and two does per 40 would work. I don’t need two buck tags.

I’m defending medicine after you and others questioned his expenditures as a nrlo. I simply responded factually regarding my expenditures, deductions and how expenditures can add up via schedule f and irs form 179. What’s wrong there? Don’t talk about incivility. Please. This site has chased...

Now everyone here is a CPA. Lol. I approach 20k per year easily. Depending on the size and operation of the farm Medicine could no doubt approach those numbers. One fairly large equipment, vehicle, etc purchase per year, which many farmers do for a 100% write off under section 179, drives up...

    NRLO tags v 4.0 HSB 668

Don’t look now but I’m an average Joe who sucked it up and sacrificed other things in life to own land. If the keyboard jockeys here conduct their net searches they’ll find I was a public servant for 25 years, not a wealthy land baron. Problem is we don’t have the means to control our deer...

CWD found in more 4 more Iowa counties

Did you read it the first time. I’ll shoot my does. And I should be able to. How would you or any other hunter know what my land needs. Maybe I’ll give you a briefing before you manage the land I pay for. Lol. Whatever. Furthermore, sell? You kidding. Your attitude and others like it drive...

CWD found in more 4 more Iowa counties

All NRLO land. All 99 counties. It’s pandemic. We need the ability to shoot more deer at reasonable rates.

CWD found in more 4 more Iowa counties

All NRLO owned land. Not enough deer being harvested. Turning into sanctuaries. Not good.

    NRLO tags v2.0 HF 2323

I like the 80 acre requirement better and we need ability to shoot does at a reasonable tag price.

Senate version of NRLO bill SSB 3129

It’s counter intuitive. If this passed I would drop crp and recoup my money by renting to a “new” farmer. Whatever that is. In doing so I’m removing wildlife cover and anti erosion cover. The 80 acre and 5 year ownership requirement is good.

Off topic, maybe controversial but a lot of fun & excitement!!!!

Come on. You can’t let us hang. Also, it came out that the developer of the vote app used in Iowa was a company named Shadow Inc.; with the principles from Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. Lol. No joke. Personally I think they blamed the app buying time to see if There was wiggle...

Looks like Iowa only released 62% of the vote with Buttigieg first and Bernie second. Jesus. Where’s the other 40% lol.

Are you kidding me. Clinton was ball less. Trump is 20 times the leader. Clinton took the position of if I do nothing I can’t be criticized. He did give us NAFTA, the worst trade agreement in history, and treated the 1993 World Trade Center bombers as civilian criminals and not terrorists...
