    Rut Action/Movement Reports

4 sits and still haven't seen an antler. Yesterday was does only. Saw does driving to and from my place. But got a couple nice bucks on cam around 1-2 am. Won't be long (for me anyway).

    Rut Action/Movement Reports

Only seeing dinks and a few does now and then on my cell cam. I pulled cards last week and really not much. There was a decent 3.5 year old working a horizontal rub I put up in the dark, but overall, nothing much I have seen to get excited about yet. But, it was like this last year too...

    Hunting in the rain

I'm with Daver. When I was younger I would have sat in it. Mostly for me, thinking of tracking a buck after the rain washes all of the blood away doesn't sound fun. I have Friday off, but will probably wait until Sunday morning to get out and try to capitalize on movement. I have 2...

    Passing bucks and success rate

I own 20. Really too small to control much of anything. Neighborhood gets hunted pretty hard. I have/do see the same deer in consecutive years, but to count on that is almost impossible. I just shoot what makes me smile, but have set some limits for myself. 3.5 year or older and I try to...

    Land prices / insane!!!

I saw that one too. I thought "The Stealth Bomber Farm". LOL That place on its own would be a nighmare. No matter where you sit, somoene would be sitting close enought to be looking at you and any deer traveling through there.

Didnt expect this on my trail cam!!!!

Makes sense then. It was really small for a lion and huge for a house cat. If you ever want to watch the dumbest individuals on the planet, read through online news comments like for this story. Unreal how ignorant people are. LOL

Didnt expect this on my trail cam!!!!

Local news channels (8 & 13) in Des Moines are running a video from the East Side with a cat that was supposed to be IDed by the DNR as a Mountain Lion. I looked at the video a dozen times now, in slow mo. At first, looksed like a big house cat. But, it is pretty stocky and I then looked...

    Cheaper Cams to Replace Moultries

That, Daver, is a price I like. I don't need super high quality pics, but pics that do show animal movement night and day. Stinks because my moultries do work, but the Microsoft updates made it a pain to view pics. I may check those out as I need to run to Menards soon.

    Don't play with deer!

Good grief. Not all that long ago, natural selection would have removed her from the earth for acting like an idiot. UG

Didnt expect this on my trail cam!!!!

No collar on that one in Madison. Cool video. Definitely a different cat.

Didnt expect this on my trail cam!!!!

This has me picturing Ricky Bobby fighting a "cougar" in his car, but with me in my timber getting shredded.

Didnt expect this on my trail cam!!!!

Wow. I really don't want to see one of those when hiking to my stands in the dark. Cool pics.

    Plans for opening weekend?

On my place, buck activity doesn't happen until mid Oct. It is only 20 acres and I don't want to burn my stands. So, I normally wait a few weeks to begin. I did that last year (very hard to wait) and saw chasing on my first sit. I'll do the same this year.

    First Cat

My place in Ringgold Co is full of cats. I get pics on a pretty regular basis and I see them in person on quite a few hunts. They are really cool to see and watch. Back when I trapped (around 2005 to 2015), I caught a couple in Madison county. Had to let one go before you could keep them...

    Chestnut planting

I started all of mine with tubes. Did a great job on protecting them. But year 3 I noticed the leaves inside the tubes were wet and browning. Tubes clearly didn’t have enough air holes. I ditched the tubes and caged them. I put window screen around each tree base to protect from mice...
