It's still November fellas. Right in the middle of some of the best hunting of the season. There are still does coming into estrus. There are doe groups coming back together and the best place to find a buck is still pinch points and terrain features all day and on food sources in the afternoon...
Just throwing out the mission line. When my wife wanted to start shooting a bow the mission "menace" at that time was a great bow for her to get started with.
Great adjustability and would grow with any child. We have since switched brands and she is on her 3rd bow but I can't say one bad thing...
If it was from a stand and there was no exit you can't expect a ton of blood with a high entrance right out if the gate. Especially with an over the top expandable head that doesn't open fully until it's through the hide.
Get after it first thing in the morning and try to find his track and...
I don't know what the legal issues would be from an officer finding a concealed gun on your during bow season or how that would ever even come up in a situation where they are just checking your license.
I have a permit to carry a gun, I carry a gun, and I guess if it ever comes to me...
The best option is to first pick a gun that you will actually carry.
Second is getting to the point of that gun being an extension of your wardrobe and knowing it in and out and putting 6-800 rnds through it. Then you will have an understanding of the gun.
Holster options are endless but it all...
I take every shot I take very seriously and more than prided myself in the shots I have taken. It took me a solid 10 minuets before I text my brother and told him I missed a buck with my bow.
I cut wood all day on Sunday and my wife really wanted to hunt so I dropped her off on our farm at noon...
I got my muzzeloader miss out of the way a few years ago... 65 yards broadside, sun hadn't even set yet. Never more confident in the world.
One of those where you can already hear the cold beers opening even before ya squeeze the trigger!
I wasn't paying a whole lot of attention to what was 10...
15 yrs and this is my only miss on a buck. I did miss a doe in 2011. I was probably overdue.
My brother missed his #1 buck on October 1st last yr and went into the late season before filling his tag. He was a pretty good pick me up today. I shot out to 80 yards tonight in a big lit driveway...
This morning I had my first ever miss on a buck with a bow... tough pill to swallow.
I missed a doe in 2010 and even that ate at me.
I've been doing this for a long time so I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later. It was a risky shot by almost anyone's standards. 47 yards, he basically...
I'm shooting 110 grains of black horn and a 250 grain Barnes. I've shot 3 shot groups out of a perfectly clean barrel between shots and then shot 3 without cleaning and they are all very close to the same spot out to 250 yards.
I hunt with a completely clean barrel and have never had any...
If your in iowa I'd suggest waiting for the season to open to kill a bobcat. The DNR might issue you a fine instead of a cities tag.. November 7th swing away!
I will be sitting all day for 10 days starting on friday. What's hard on the mind and body is working like a dog all year at work. Let alone all the sweat and time that goes into getting ready for each coming deer season.
Sitting in a tree is easy! really easy. Enjoying every bit of what I've...
I still do both. Just in entirely different areas. It's just a small family group during shotgun season and we do small deer drives. I purchase my antlerless tags in advance so I can go and shoot a few does and have fun with the family.
Bowhunting is my #1 passion but I really enjoy late...
In 2010 I shot a buck at 12 yards with a 565+ grain arrow out of a 72 lb bow shooting a 2 blade magnus stinger and got about 2-3" of total penetration... certain spots you just won't get an arrow through.
I've lowered my arrow weight and gone to a big cut expandable and have had zero complaints...
Any head can deflect. It's most evident with over the top expendables as the leading blade catches first and kicks the arrow.
A rage or any offset deployment head should be a good bet as the first contact actually deploys the offside blade.
Stuff happens.... it's as simple as that. You have to...
I do know that you can't fool a whitetails nose.
I do know that setting up in hopes of the deer come from down wind is counter productive.
You can sit on buckets or 27' up a tree my whole point was setting up so that deer end up downwind of you will save alot of money on taxidermy bills
If you downwind killers are constantly killing older age class bucks then you guys need to get together, Your literally sitting on millions of dollars. I don't care if your spraying your scent locker blocker suit down with 13 different sprays and 9 carbon products while running a dozen ozonics...
I guess I will never grasp this concept of having deer come in down wind. That goes against everything I've been doing my whole hunting career. So in theory when you folks are hunting a North wind, you are expecting the deer to come from the south.... Maybe I'm missing something here
