Yeah we talked to a guy who does them and it seems like there are a lot of hoops to jump through but it’ll be nice to have in our playbook for the future!
Can you sell yourself land you already own and put it in a self directed IRA if it’s in a partnership type llc? I’m tired of leaving my retirement savings in the hands of whoever is elected at the time!
Good idea! At least maybe I can use those listings for a reference as to what these items may be worth I know the one disc is a John Deere and it looks in really good shape. Not sure if it’s 12 or 15 foot. Thanks
Okay once the weather breaks I’ll try and get them pulled out of the jungle and post some pictures. The one planter and the disks all look in good shape. I know the local auction place has a spring machinery auction but I don’t have much free time to haul it all down there. I guess I was more...
Picked up another small farm and as they typically are, it is full of old farm equipment. At least three decent looking disks, looks like a John Deere 7000 4 row planter and then a few real old John Deere planters. The local scrap guy said he would give me $50 a ton for everything but I’m pretty...
Thanks Skip that’s the plan when the market settles down some for sure! I just can’t justify paying 6k an acre for a cattle farm or one paying $125 an acre cash rent. Something has got to give!
Just listened to your podcast Skip. Really cool stuff! I can relate to some of the things you talked about for sure and have spent the last 12 years since moving to IOWA learning and trying to put some great farms together. Unfortunately this part of west central Iowa I can’t envision, with the...
Maybe but I still think it’s the people that are moving out to the country from the city now they found out they can work from home in some instances. I wouldn’t call them anti-hunters per se but they’re going to put out a feeder and wind up naming all the deer and no they’re not gonna let...
I think when he said anti-hunters he meant people wanting to leave the city and move out to the country. That’s what’s driving your prices up now boys and girls just take a look at any of the realtor sites every farm is getting broken up into acreage’s,20 and 40 acre pieces which makes it...
I was asked to update all emails related to HF 806 (formerly HF 60). This bill did not pass through the second funnel week and will not be progressing this session.
Thank you for your participation in state government!
From McClintock’s office today
Thanks! Yeah the tree tubes are splitting and I keep trying to keep them together with zip ties and tape. They are mostly around field edges and such so any tree not protected gets destroyed. I do have some extras in the shop I may just slice open them and use a hole punch and zip tie them back...
Any suggestions on the best most economical way to replace tree tubes on a big tree planting I did quite a few years back? The original tubes are coming apart and although the trees are 8-10 ft or so they still are going to need protection from getting trashed during the fall.
Will do. I just think this bill was thrown together without any research being done or any sort of facts to back up the need for what they are proposing. As I understand it there is no list of registered outfitters or guides in Iowa and there hasn’t been any specifics on how they will go about...
Does anyone have any info on how many “legitimate” Outfitters there are in this state right now that qualify being established before the date posted in the bill? Also curious if there’s any data on the amount of non-resident landowners in the state right now who have vested interest in tag...
You hit the nail on the head there! Great response! Add my name to guys on the list you know that moved out here specifically to be able to buy and manage their own land. But with that I have a partnership with an out-of-state buddy who has to wait like everyone else to draw a tag and also have...
So some responses we received they mentioned that outfitters are registered with the department of natural resources? I thought I read in an earlier post that outfitters aren’t required to register or recognized by the state? Anyone wanna clear that up? Also for the non-resident landowners who...
