Roundup Ready Corn & Soybean Food Plot

I mowed some of the corn and made an important observation for me at least. I mowed some as low as the mower deck would go and some about a foot high. Just trying to see what it all looked like. I thought if I leave it too tall I may get some shed antlers lost in there and find them with a...

    Advice on killing poison ivy…

$90 at Bomgaars. It’s pricey. Our County Noxious Weed Dept. sells it much cheaper than that when they have it in stock. Something to check out where you are maybe. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Advice on killing poison ivy…

I'll second Remedy. 2-4d works well too, but there may be some residual with it.

    Drone cover crop seeding

You had access to a drone seeder and you broadcast into corn by hand?! You are a savage, Skip Sligh. Savage! [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Fence Laws

I think here it also involves who was paying the taxes. Since the property taxes are based on parcel lines which are established by the survey, it is unlikely the non-owner paid the taxes and makes their case pretty weak. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Deer Decoy

I've had some cool hunts over a decoy, but it has challenges. My biggest one is how to retrieve it after a hunt when it didn't work. I always use mine in an open field setting and you have to get it after the hunt. Can't leave it there. That often involves deer still in the field and it hasn't...

    Planting Osage Orange

I’m sure they eat some of the apples, but the browse line around here is incredible! Any leaf a deer can reach is eaten. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Planting Osage Orange

We have a bunch and I have grown a bunch. I take a hedge apple and cut it into quarters with a machete or hatchet. Dig a small hole (like one shovel scoop) and drop in a piece, kick the dirt back over, and you are done. Very low effort with a good success rate for me.

No till drill, planting & details - video

Sold! I rebuilt a corn planter from the ground up, so looks like I'll have to go ahead and jump in on this! Haha!

No till drill, planting & details - video

That was a very good video, Skip. I have a general question about drills for the group. There are some things I would never buy used. Too many chances to buy a lemon and not know it until it is too late. There are some things I would never buy new, because used ones are much cheaper and are easy...

    Hanging deer

MeatEater Podcast Ep 227 they had a meat scientist on. It is a great listen! We are familiar with the basics, you shoot something and it is limp, then it gets stiff (rigor mortis), and finally it gets limp again. I think the final point was you need to let the meat get to the post-rigor stage at...

    Transporting redneck blind

When I trailered one, Redneck suggested I bolt the blind straight to the trailer. They withstand high winds in the field from those exact bolts, so it made sense to me and trailered just fine. Blind was not on the tower when I did it. 75 MPH on Interstate.

Roundup Ready Corn & Soybean Food Plot

I thought I would be cool and go spread some cover crop seed into the standing corn before last night's rain. The hope was it will germinate and grow some so when I go knock some of the corn down it will be there already. Never again... :D Those leaves tore me UP! Long sleeves and gloves were...

    What's next for Republicans?

In one of my fisheries biology classes in college our professor told us you collect the data and take it to a statistician. If they don’t tell you what you want, you take it to another and another and another until that changes. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
