That's huge! I have no trouble believing it's 70#. :) I haven't shot anything very big at all. Maybe a 10 pounder.

You can do it, but I kind of feel it's overkill and kills the lines of the gun. I like the 3-15x44 VX5HD or 3-18x44 VX6HD for them personally.

The cut rifled Brux barrels are the best I sell, but these Preferred select grade barrels have been shooting right with them. So really, they're all good. With this sale, you're saving $320 compared to a Brux with the ASG Gen2, so it's pretty hard to beat this option.

Good questions....Accuracy to 300 yards and effective deer killing or two totally different things. These encores are running 2500 fps with a 300gr bullet. You're probably getting 2100 fps if that. These encores will shoot groups at 400-500 yards, but energy would be falling off to what...

It's plenty hot here too. But I haven't broke down and put AC in the garage yet. Garage opens to west though, so I've been chased inside mid afternoon a few days when the sun really starts to warm things up.

I would step up to the 300gr. You could also start going for the high shoulder shot if want to drop then in their tracks.

I put in for Elk, BHS, and Oryx and came up empty. Anyone have any luck? At least I'll be getting my $6K back.

I put in for NM elk, sheep, and oryx. I think I should find out next week. I'm going to put in for a AZ coues hunt I think (will be a NR since won't satisfy the residency requirements yet). Probably won't hunt Iowa this year. :(
