    JD Planter

Dbltree Do you think that my Ford 35hp could pull a 4 row planter? When I looked at them, there seems to be very little price difference in used row planters, whether 2 or 4 row.

    Buckwheat Seed Purchase

Well I think I will plant it when the BW is planted. What I'm really looking for is screening of the various one acre plots. I see that Welters has Milo seed that grows up top 4 ½ feet. Anyone have any experience with forage or a type that grows taller?? Thanks again everyone

Fishbonker You make a good point. I'll be coming from the east on 80, any idea how far north of 80 Welters is?? Diesel fuel is KILLING me. Isn't it suppose to be cheaper to make...sorry another topic... Any views on what I'm thinking of doing with Milo/BW/fall planting would be appreciated.

    Buckwheat Seed Purchase

Thanks all for the insight, and if anyone finds any seed along 34, please pass it on. Dbltree, if I can’t find anything close, I’ll definitely send on a PM. Might just add my fall seed to the order also… Just thought of a question: Can Milo or Sorghum (forage for height??) be panted at the same...

    Buckwheat Seed Purchase

Thanks dbltree, might just have to take you up on that. I think upwards of 10 50 lbs bags. I see Welters has it for $23, which is a fair price, but I think shipping would realy hurt the overall price. Thinking that stopping on the way through somewhere on 34 would be the best. Should be planting...

    Buckwheat Seed Purchase

Looking for some insight I know a lot of people use Welter for seed, but I’m wondering if there are any seed stores on 34 between 218 and Chariton. Looking to pickup some buckwheat later this spring. Thanks for any advice

    HSB 764

Sorry everyone, just did some reading and I have questions. Over the last couple of years I have had three different conversations with the Iowa DNR on this subject, with three different answers. Here’s the main question, whether 30 days or 180…If/When I move to Iowa and have to travel outside...

    Sub-Committee Meeting on HF 2052

What if both A and B aren't good for Iowa sportsmen??? I just wonder if the "divide and concur" tactic that is being used?? How many bills can the IBA and Iowa Sportsmen fight in one year effectively???

    Sub-Committee Meeting on HF 2052

I just don't get this. There are a couple different bills that are under review for the Iowa government (dnr) to reduce the deer population and increase revenue. Why would the Iowa DNR give out FREE resident landowner tags that could sold to anyone and lose that potential revenue??Unless I'm...

    H&R Ultra Slugger

One Big Buck My father, who is in his 70’s and my daughter, who is thirteen both shoot the 20 gauge ultra slugger. Three bucks have fallen to them in the past two year. One fell in his tracks the other two didn’t go more than 50 yards. I will also add they are using the Hornady slug with the 250...

    XMAS Tree to Plant...

This year we have started a new family tradition. Instead of buying a cut XMAS tree, we bought a Colorado Spruce tree to decorate and then plant this spring on our property. Anyone have any experience on spruce trees and should they be fenced in?? How should it be handled till spring? I’m...

Hunting lobby- NR and NR landowners

Phamer/Dbltree/Fishbonker.. Thanks for the insight. Once again no mud slinging meant, just trying to understand all view points. The NR landowner yearly any sex tag is a debate with many sides. As soon as my wife has her nursing degree, we’ll probably be residents in Des Moines, so that would...

    Tag cost

Sask If Sask is looking for more revenue, I believe that it has some hurdles to overcome for revenue to increase by NR(US citizen). I hunted Manitoba for some years in the middle 90’s. At that time the three Canadian prairie proveniences and Texas was the place to be for big whitetail. Then, I...

    Best Season Ever...

    Thinking Outside of the Box......

Trying to catch up on some responses… Making a long story short, I’ll wait until early spring and do it right. I just didn’t have a good “gut “feeling that it would work. Also, thanks for the answer on seed storage, as now that needs to happen…..

    It's December, what's working??

I’m like fishbonkers on this one…The freshly cut corn field 1/3 mile away has the deer traveling there. I would expect my Purple Top Turnips and Dwarf Essex Rape to start to be hit after the first, as nothing happen now…

Hunting lobby- NR and NR landowners

Sorry for the late reply, HS wrestling meet all yesterday… Anyway, a fight wasn’t my intent. But an explanation was. I have been blessed to live in many Midwest states and over sea’s . What I have learned from this experience is that where someone lives isn’t a reflection of who he is, his...
