With the wetter year I've noticed that the deer have changed there travel patterns. Also, I think the warmer weather has kept them from bunching up yet. It's a lot easier for a couple of deer to sneak by when pushing than a group of them.
The EHD epidemic was attributed to drought but with...
I'm pretty sure he has to have a hunting license w/hab stamp, even on family land at age 16. There should be a chart in the reg book or just go to the IDNR website.
The ATF has clarified that the Sig brace is not considered a shoulder mount. He really shouldn't have to take it off. I'm guessing that the Bureau Chief is either uneducated on the subject or isn't afraid to lose in court.
So the Bureau Chief can supercede what the ATF has decided? If it's classified as a pistol and you are shooting an "approved" caliber according to the regs, I wouldn't think they could fight it and win.
A DNA test would confirm whether or not the sheds were from the same deer. Sux, but I'm afraid there is a lot more of that crap going on than we realize or here about.
If you get out away from the larger cities, the hunting pressure seems to be less during bow season. A lot of hunters are strictly shotgunners and they only get 14 days total to hunt. As for 160+ every year, I see at least 1 but getting them on the ground is a different story. The sections that...
There are Savages out there with "BP Only" barrels so where are you seeing that these are NOT smokeless capable? And how do we know that Remington has never used 1 that is smokeless capable? All I've found are personal opinions and what the Lawyers want you to see.
I'm not saying that these...
I asked the question over on Iowasportsman, had a few responses but not a lot of info. My biggest question was that if they are designed for 200 grains of BP/substitute, would smokeless be safe? Cabelas sold the Savage with "Black powder only" stamped on the barrel for legal reasons. I'm...
I was kneeled behind the tree when he reappeared at 40. That "is" when I knew what I needed to know but couldn't move with him staring at my location. The look at 90 was as they were coming in. I don't think the sun was on my face as I was on the east side of the tree.
The coat was RedHead...
So I decide to hunt a new area yesterday from the ground. I get in, get situated and start the wait. 30 mins in and I have a decent 10 coming from the east on a trail that passes about 5 yds fm me. At about 60 yds he stops and stairs right at me. This lasts for what seems like 5 mins but in...
Good looking deer. Congratulations. All of the time just makes it more special.
I'm curious though. You say, "I found him that night right where I thought he fell at about 80 yards. In the morning I brought my son along to trail the blood and find the arrow." Why did you let him lay all night?
Anybody look at the shotgun typical? World record.
I don't think that all that have been recorded are listed. A family mbr shot the #2 typical for 1986 and it's not on the list anymore. At least that I can find it.
Every year you hear of maybe a couple of accidents. The reason it's not higher might be because you don't have people sitting in trees.
Where did you find the statistics to compare accidents during deer seasons?
