I did the same thing last year. Lightly discard the red clover and then planted brassicas. Brassicas did well and red clover came back. Now I have a plot of red clover for the deer to feast on.
Unfortunately deer don't hardly hit the brassicas in my area. Have planted them for 3 years now...
These arguments are getting ridiculous...quit ruining this site.
People used to share 100x more than they share now. I have to believe it is due to all the back and forth BS and Internet policing going on. Come on already!
As anyone has success broadcasting and then covering soybeans? Obviously, I don't have a planter. My plan was to disc up the ground and broadcast the soybeans and then drag to cover. What I intend on doing is to do this in 20' wide strips and leave a little path wide enough for my ATV so I can...
I use a kisser as well. It just give you another anchor point which helps consistency. Between the kisser, centering the sight housing in your peep and a level you should be very consistent.
During deer season I had a coyote 250-300 yards out crossing a cornfield. The coyote got downwind at that distance and stopped on a dime. It was pretty cool to see just how far they can smell.
Honestly, the best days this year were Oct 15-Nov 1 according to the cameras. Our biggest bucks moving all hours of the day and plenty of new bucks showing up in daylight that never showed again.
Our group hunted hard all throughout November and had pretty mediocre action.
Great job! What an excellent and uplifting read to start out the new year. I wish you continued success in 2016 and beyond. Congratulations on the life transformation.
Anyone who hadn't been seeing much action in the brassicas seeing much the last couple days with the snow???
Just curious as I haven't been to our farm in a while and there was not much going on in the brassica department. I'd assume now with 8-10" of snow they would be in there...
Sat over our beans in west-central MN. Sitting on a high point over one plot and can see the other plot about 200 yards away. Saw approximately 80 different deer, 5 bucks. Nothing bigger than 2.5 yr old. Bucks have taken it hard to the shotguns the past couple years in the area...if it has bone...
It's been a crazy year for sure. In SW WI we have 3 acres of Dbltree mix (clover, brassica, cereals) enclosed by an acre of standing corn. We haven't had any nice bucks on camera in the plots but have had plenty in the timber. We saw a decent amount of deer eating the clover and cereals in our...
Wow! That's really awesome! I looked in your profile and saw the pic...unreal buck. Even greater, in my opinion, is the fact that you got back on him and closed the deal. That says a great deal about you as a hunter. Congrats!
