    Acorns to Oaks!

Is the bottom of your bin a screen or all one plastic mold with holes in it? Experimenting with this years fridge germ'd chestnuts. Some Burr and Swamp White as well. Started several inside, individual in both 5 gal and 2 gal grow bags, and the rest in community pots for the summer. In the...

    Interior woods plot

Dont know your situation or goals, but at quick glance you might end up doing more harm to your hunting than good. Oats and some clovers should do well, you still need SOME sunlight if you do it though. Most likely going to need lime as well

Roundup Ready Corn & Soybean Food Plot

What's the idea behind adding liberty and 24D? Some weeds building 24D tolerance? I haven't encountered any broadleaf that 24D wont nuke but I'm sure they exist.

Great podcast to listen to! Steve Hansen on the Land Podcast

Lots of big picture thoughts that've never crossed my mind before. What a complex unforeseen thing. The scary thing is all of the recent negative trends and Xbows aren't even in the mix yet. as Merle asked, "Are the good times really over for good?"

    2 acre bean food plot

Impossible for anyone to answer. Your local deer numbers dictate that. Try it! Worst case they don't make it this year and you turn it into a green plot in August. No harm not foul I have several in the 2-3ac range but am in the prairie with very few deer and most disperse for the summer...

    Farmer brush cleared too much.

Wow what a killer looking property!! I's jealous! If deer are your goal it sounds like you need to get some standing grain in there.

    Pheasant rebound…

That's good to know. I'm planning on planting a couple acres worth of long narrow strips for them at the moment. Thinking grain sorghum because I hear they like it, plus I liked the idea of being able to use a corn residual in it. Maybe I should do half clean sorghum and the other sorghum...

Starting a 75 acre tree planting looking for Ideas 2024

The white pines are a fantastic tree and I've experienced little to no browse on young ones BUT I am in a low deer number part of IL.

    Acorns to Oaks!

I've been tinkering with different pots the last few years for starting trees and am probably overcomplicating it - but what have you all found as the best size and type (plastic, grow bag etc. ) for starting and keeping young oaks through the winter to plant at 2 yo or even 3yo ??? I find a...

Buying used 3 pt. Tree Planter??

Ended up just making a 3pt one. 40hp Kubota rocked it with no problem. Already ran 1,000 trees and 3,000 miscanthus rhizomes through it and it worked like a charm!

    Bedding builds

Bedding build from scratch (hopefully). Open ag country. Planted thin switch (3-4lbs/ac) spring '23. Burned off half a week ago, left the other half stand. Went through last night & planted sporadic white pine, shingle oaks, and cedar. Will spot plant more oaks, few spruce, and cedar. The...

    Transplants

Cedar Pulling is pretty well over, but here are a few small ones from earlier in the week. Can fit around 20 in a bucket if you shake the dirt off well. Makes it very easy

    Best method for planting miscantus

Yes, except I lightly disked and then drug it smooth only because I dont have a tiller. If you spray it in the same day itll be fine. Or dont and hit it with 24D and quinclorac later in the summer. Ive done both and they work fine
