    Pheasant rebound…

I've done some calling around to various farms/breeders the last few days & learned some things. If the goal is to establish a wild population your best two proven choices are "spent hens" or old chicks/teenagers that have been hardened outside. Some places do this. Basically net in multiple...

I'm sure he will fry up just as golden brown! Drive home with him in the bed of the truck and he should air dry and fluff back to normal in no time. Have done it before!

    Thermal drone herd analysis…..

Regarding the drone talk, scary stuff. We will be wishing they weren't a thing 5-10 years from now.

    Thermal drone herd analysis…..

Not to derail the thread here BUT For the Iowa guys hollering about cell cams and too much hunter success due to them, just wait until Crossguns come to town. Cell cams have basically zero impact on general hunter population success comparatively. A Ravin is 10000000x more devastating than...

    Soil test results

What is the best way to reduce high mag? What kind of issues will too high cause? I just got a soil test back from a new field. Mag is sky high at 439 ppm, the rest are all low. P 8ppm, K 115ppm, & Ca 1379 ppm. 6.4 pH though :)

    Acorns to Oaks!

I just have them in my basement under a cheap grow light all winter, so maybe low 60's. Surely a warmer temp they would do even better. Use straight peat. I take the peat in bucket, mix in some water so the peat is extremely damp, antibacterial dish soap (stops mold), and sevin (stops gnats...

    Acorns to Oaks!

Currently in my 4th winter starting trees from acorn/chestnut. Have been getting them started under lights in 10" cone-tainers, then transplanting and tubing them sometime around the end of April after the frosts are mostly gone. That has yielded the best results for my situation so far. I've...

Hopefully for your sake they count alfalfa, that would be nice. From my CRP experience it seems like they keep it all pretty common sense. That varies office to office, county by county. Develop a relationship with your local NRCS guy is the best route, because there definitely can be some...
