Black oak in particular is basically worthless. Produces an acorn that is not desirable and the lumber is worthless.

No, it's not at all. All a guy needs to "be the group" is to have a valid doe tag. He or she can become a pusher or whatever if they already shot a buck. You 100% can eliminate party tagging and still have group hunting.
