Here’s the SO in the front yard that’s loaded this year. I picked these in about 10 min or so. To the OP on this thread, how many would you like? I can get more, I have a zillion SO’s. Just a matter of finding the time to go gather them up. The deer are in the front yard gobbling them up quick, too.

Looks really good! That right there is proof positive of a major advantage of drilling vs broadcasting seed. Clearly identifiable rows of switch. Every field of switch I’ve planted, I’ve had to play the, “is it switch” identification game.

Thanks for the replies Rob. My plan is to spray 2,4-D & Quinclorac in a couple weeks. Concern there is what about the areas where nothing had emerged…what if those seedlings are just popping…I might smoke them. I didn’t stress this much when either of my sons were born, lol!

I remember stressing pretty bad last year about this time over the same thing…couldn’t positively identify much switch then, bam! Fingers crossed. Question, if there was a decent population of young switch in there and it was 8-12” tall, now it’s mowed down to 5”, does that kill it?

Like some other that have posted here, I have an unlimited supply of SO on my place. As has also been previously stated, so many that they’re borderline “invasive”. Id be happy to gather some acorns this fall assuming we get a crop. Should…last year the mast production on my farm was nil.
