    BDAHMS hunting log

Well I'm sitting on brassicas n cut corn and they prefer the corn. Seen 30 pheasants, 10 turkeys, 40 deer. No mature bucks. After legal hours had decent buck and doe come in, both carrying a front leg. 5 min earlier and would have tried to get 1 for sure. Think I may try mornings? Anyone trying?

    Slow rut

Well maybe was just out on right days first year, but had bucks wore out from chasing, fighting, cruising. Now it seems like mature bucks and does go hide and 3.5 and younger don't care. I was just wondering if maybe had real high doe to buck ratio so don't need to compete, but shouldn't I see...

    Slow rut

I'm saying unless past 3 seasons all activity is at night, there is no chasing, no sparing, no cruising. The only habitat change in area is where I hunt has gained better food sources. Not sure on doe pop as I thought it was high but don't see many during sits. I hunt multiple pieces in the...

    Slow rut

Wasn't archery hunted before. Don't think it's over hunted. I'm the only one who hunts it, I see more young less quality bucks than anything. On average evening sit I'll see 10 deer? Doe with couple yearlings, 3 small young bucks, 2-3 does and one good genetic buck, This is from October 25-nov...

    Slow rut

I started hunting a new area 4 years ago, first year had bucks cruising, bedded in road ditch and not wanting to move, young bucks coming to the worst grunt/rattle and running so hard had crap running down back legs. Every year since has gotten worse to nonexistent. So is my doe to buck ratio so...

    Firearm seson

Only impossible if you have bad eggs in the bunch. We push/party hunt during shotgun, we just only push towards center of farm and not aggressive. It all depends on the buck, some just roam farther than others. I have trail cam pics of mature 160+ bucks almost a mile apart on consecutive nights

    November movement

Been out past few days, very slow to nonexistent activity. Does are hiding and bucks not even looking. Beginning to wonder if doe:buck ratio is way high. Only hunted here for 4 years, every year seems less like rut.

    Advice

So I've hunted the area around my house for 4 years now. First year was crazy, bucks cruising and sparing. Every year since has been a gradual decline with rut activity. I have pics of some good bucks but nothing seems to suggest it's November. The deer are not pressured much. Plenty of food. My...

The Dreaded "Fourwheelers and Pressure" Thread

Deer, even mature deer get accustomed to habits. Farmer comes out to hay his cattle with tractor, they care less, but you drive a atv/truck and they bolt. I believe it all depends on you. If you try to make a secluded sanctuary anything will spook them, but go about your day and if you bump...

    Should I set another stand?

I think I will move camera next time I hunt. I will not be able to hunt much but think I found my own answer. My stand currently is on main trail, so he will probably use it more in a few weeks. I also don't want to get too close to bedding area. I rattled just a bit softly, he was very curious...

    Should I set another stand?

Sunday night had the buck I'm after come out at 30-40 min left in shooting hours. He came out of timber about 100-120 yards away. I only have one pic of him by my stand and that was a week ago. This is first time I've sat in stand. The stand is se of where he came out. So would you set another...

Risk worth the reward? Opinions needed

Trail cams are the devil, lol. If he showed up under your tree we would all shoot him. From my experience, I had a buck I new was 200"+ but thought would be great with a year. Buddy had him at 30 yards but knew he was off limits. Well he got killed in gun season, was over 200". Do I wish he...

Risk worth the reward? Opinions needed

The way I look at it; you can't get great deer if you kill good ones. I would say he is 4, I would let him walk and see what he does next year. He may be the same but you'll never know if you kill him
