Preparation is the Key to good Venison

I take the tenderloins straight out of the deer after field dressing. My favorite part of the deer, I personally go unmarinated, but light steak seasoning and a little butter. When serving others I put a bourbon marinade on the loins and regardless always go med rare;) first deer taken this...

    Slug Gun

I have not shot them. I almost tried them last year but couldn't find any when push came to shove. My savage 12 is a killer gun, and has made several bucks hit the dirt. If I ever get another it'll be the 220 and when I'm planning on doing more stand hunting. My brother usually uses that gun...

    Slug Gun

I have the 12ga model 210 also and can get -2" groups at 100yds, and at 200 with a 3-9x40 Nikon, 6" groups shooting Hornaday SST. My Mossberg bolt action is just as good but with a redfield 3-9x40. Surprisingly being a semi auto, my sbe2 groups better than any of them. This year, they will...

    Slug Gun

An examples for a companies minimums: the ideal minimum shot size for geese is #2 or larger. Ducks are #4 or larger pheasants are #6 or larger. Idk how many times I've killed geese with #4, ducks with 6's and pheasant with #7.5.. its been often.

    Slug Gun

Idk how to explain 200, 220 and 245yd shots with a slug gun, killing deer and not having them run more than 100yds..and 2/3 had both entry and exit holes. the minimums they state aren't realistic minimums.. they are minimums for ideal effectiveness for the general public. Not by standards of not...

    Slug Gun

X2 on scoped guns for running deer. Far more accurate than open sights and easy to shoot a deer on the trot. Obviously it extends your effective range also..Only time I ever use the 870, or 11-87 is when i already have a tag filled and let someone use my sbe2 (scoped/rifled barrel), or if I'm in...

Really.... U sure its not a more mature stage?

    Slug Gun

I would second the savage 220, but its not a do all gun for deer drives. Depends on your style of hunting. Stand hunting I say go for it! If you plan on using a scope, Cantilever barrels are much more accurate than reg rifled barrels. There's no play between the barrel and scope, because the...

    Remington 11-87 combo

11-87 super magnum (3.5" chamber), black, 28" bird barrel, 24" slug barrel. Slug barrel has light use. Roughly 10 shots. Great push gun! This gun will not cycle light trap loads, but cycles flawlessly for waterfowl, upland loads, or slugs. $650 obo Pm with interest

    how big

I'm gonna say he will be lucky to hit 155" gross. I wouldn't even say 150 if his g3's weren't soo long. Not much mass at all and hes gonna be spindly when velvet comes off. Id kill him. Especially if he's that old, you can't wait for him to blow up any more.. I would have only guessed him as a...

"if i don't shoot him - someone else will - so i better shoot him"

You have to start somewhere man! Don't hesitate to harvest a doe or buck of any size for your first one! My first deer with a bow was a doe, and my first buck was a small 5 pt that did it right and came right past at 5yds. My friends dad started hunting with me a few years ago during shotgun...
