:) luckily Paige had already planned around rut....and her idea....at least I didnt bring it up that I was already thinking that! ( I def got lucky there)
went out west to chase some antelope in the open country with some TBI buddies and TH. Was a fun trip- didnt get an antelope but it wasnt for lack of trying. Also knocked down plenty of prairie dogs.
Had a couple good encounters that I prob should have tagged out- the one shot I did take was...
I set out Antler King mineral early on and a trophy rock in a few spots. Not sure if any correlation to ticks or not. I know I have a few pics of does covered in ticks at a different property- but Ill keep tabs on that now.
The new cameras I just hung are the new 4K's and a few of the above photos came from a 4K. others are from G series or lower models. But the DS4K's hands down take the best pics of any cameras I have owned. Video mode is solid as well.
I went down to the property I show my big ten last year that shed his antlers right after I shot him and hung cameras for the first time this year. Will get back down there before the end of this month to check them when we plant our food plots. But I did a first for trail cameras this...
This one wasn’t ever close to getting out of hand. Main thing is to have help- I had 4 Of us there today. And I mowed the perimeter of the plot 3 passes to make a nice really short buffer area. I also took my back pack sprayer and really soaked down the path. Them light it down wind side...
went and worked on a controlled burn for a new food plot at a property I hunt- turned out well. Here are some of the pics from the car pulls while I was there
and here is the plot that im doing here- all done with a back pack sprayer- push mower and drip...
I turned a tall grass (non CRP) area into a future brassica plot yesterday. Sprayed it two weeks ago - went in last night and did a controlled burn. Will broadcast seed and nitrogen in a few weeks around rain and spray again a few weeks after that. I took a mower and cut a double wide...
I broadcast urea right after I spread the seed during a light sprinkle. once the plants were about 1"-2" of growth I went back and broadcast 13-13-13 and 46-0-0 Urea (again- hours before rain) the plots have turned out great that I have used this method. Fortunately i have had...
if burning it is an option I would do a controlled burn. And then do a good no till. Majority of my brassica plots have been no till- just time it right where you are planting RIGHT before a good rainfall and ideal in a few days after that will be another decent rain.
been slacking on posting photos- here are a few of bucks I have on camera so far- still need to get cameras up at a few spots but its been fun checking the ones I do have up so far.
I use the IPHONE card reader purchased at the apple store. I take my ipad into the field with me to check the cards and save the pictures right to the ipad (it saves them when you import them)
Its a long video- so bare with that. But its fun to go back and see some of the adventures I went on. Cut a lot out of it as well- I think my wife thinks I do too much stuff now:D
