    Unique bucks….

This one was pretty normal last yr. If he survives he might get interesting in the future.

    WHICH DO U SHOOT?

Where I hunt I wouldn't shoot either of those. I only see a 150s deer in the second pic and I'd be inclined to assume he still has some potential to get better in the coming years. I am only allowed one deer here so I'd be looking for something better than the top one. Looking for a target buck...

    Growth this year

In a wet year here wheat has a hard time hitting 13.5% protein. In a drought wheat will be high teens. Used to test our hay every year ... dry yrs had 15 to 25% more tdn (total digestible nutrients) and protein was close to double that of a wet year.

    Growth this year

Very early spring here similar to '21. There will be some good deer coming out of Saskatchewan again this yr, much better than '22 when it was quite wet. The key here is drought. The deer here never run out of food in the summer and the nutrition jumps unbelievably during drought. High protein...

    Opinion Friday night- score?

Ya, add 'em up. 4, 11, 9.5, 5, 25, 18 X2 = 145 Plus 19 inch spread = 164 Change the numbers however you like, he might squeeze out 170. Impressive deer but he's kinda young looking ... I'd be inclined to try to get him to make it another year or two.

    Random Thursday question/thought on genetics.

Here's a picture of the genetic diversity that can be present in a relatively small area. I got these bucks during the five yrs, 2014-2018 all within a three mile by one mile area.

    Random Thursday question/thought on genetics.

Ever hear of a "throwback"? Basically it's when a genetic trait pops up that hasn't been seen for yrs. I think that's what can happen when the right combination of genes that were floating around in the gene pool rise to the surface and merge together creating a buck with similar characteristics...

    Antiques. But what are they?

:D That's a thrashing machine and was used stationary. The combine that the old parts were off of actually cut the crop and was probably built out of light materials so the low hp tractors could pull it around the field.
