    Stay warm fellows

Agreed, it better be huge in brutal temps or it's not worth it..I remember in years past coming out of my heater body suit to climb down and my hands instantly lost feeling and movement..Now it's fiberglass blinds and that makes it WAY easier to sit out in the cold weather. I use my bow to help...

    Stay warm fellows

Perfect late season weather coming with brutal cold and snow..if you have standing grain, you will probably see every buck on your farm. The only problem comes if you kill one and have to drag and field dress in those conditions.

    Favorite time to hunt

January over grain plots is my favorite time of the whole season to bowhunt..It can be tough getting in and out, and some bucks are broken(or shed this year)......But i love late season. Anyone else?

    Cell cam options

Coverts are a pretty good option. I put them out in July, and they run thru the winter on the same batteries. The data plan is good too, I pay $30/ mo for 5 cameras and 5000 pictures. The downside to Coverts is they occasionally pick up deer before they are in the picture frame. Resulting in...

    Who is shed hunting?!

On camera, I'm seeing some fully shed bucks and a lot that have one side within the last week. Way early.

I like it, but would not like it if I recently purchased land there.

TYM 55HP Tractor and PH Outdoors 5' drill

I bought a used great plains drill a couple years ago and love it. I think you will like the PH outdoors drill too. I've done soybeans, cereal grains, clover, alfalfa and brassica with mine and had good results. I do not have the native seed box, just the small and regular boxes. One feature I...

    Iowa Trespassing laws

A friend picked up a new lease this year and last weekend alone the warden issued 4 different trespassing tickets and a huge fine for a buck that was shot. I cannot believe people trespass like it's no big deal.

    Deer #’s down statewide???

I sure hope they consider going to a 1 buck limit in 2025 with numbers way down..Throw in another for landowners to help with culls.

    Your best bedding areas?

Thick choked out areas near ditches or drainages. Preferably on south facing hills and usually has come cedar mixed in. On my place, no one goes in these areas at all. In the summer, they also like grassy areas in ag fields or waterways in ag.

    Late Season question

Your post addresses one of the hardest things to deal with when hunting blinds/stands on food.. I try to cut paths thru corn for escape, I never come out till its pitch dark, and if I see the field clear 15 minutes or so before dark, I get out right then. I do everything humanly possible to...

    2024 Buck - 7.5 years in the making…..

This pretty well sums 200" deer up perfectly. I have been hunting 44 years and hunting the Midwest since 2008. I've had 2 200" bucks to hunt in all those years on some incredible Midwest farms. I have seen bucks with 200" potential on several occasions, but neighbors always shoot them when they...

    Hunting permission.

In Illinois I would have people send a letter or call every year. In Iowa zero.
