Both have their advantages IMO.
Nativ is great for rare options that may not be available from other nurseries. I have some of their hybrid white/red oaks growing and doing well in northern MO and the Kansas City area.
They've changed the verbiage from the letters I've received in the past. It's a nice touch stating how many deer they want to remove and what that equates to be in DPSM.
Used to be try and kill as many as you or we can during the targeted culling dates.
In a former "Hot Zone" on the MO side in Mercer County. The buck that tested positive (and still only positive found in that area) looked healthy as can be and was mature. Before knowing about CWD, no one would have bat an eye to not eat that deer or suspect something was wrong with it...
The biggest 2-3 year olds have a hard time getting another time around the sun.
One buck shot this year on a neighboring property that I also had pics of was estimated to be 2.5 years old. He grossed 141" with double split brows with an extra g-3 on his left side. It's just the nature of...
Same for me, attended Mercer R-III and most of my family is still there.
Haven't seen a change in deer densities for my farm, but what has changed is the # of quality mature bucks given the increased hunting pressure in the area as opposed to the early 2000's.
The IA state nursery trees have done well for me over the years.
I'd order from them again without hesitation.
Another bonus with the IA State Nursery, is you can get them delivered in the fall and planted with much less stress on them.
Here’s a few screenshots (pano) I took this past Saturday of the deer out in the field at one time. There were 5 more behind me at this time as well.
Mercer County, MO 2 miles from IA line….19 total in the pics and this is a CWD zone where I get 10 extra tags yearly.

How many acres is the property?
What's the breakdown of timber/fields?
If you want to hold bucks, I'd be looking for lots of screening cover/stem density below 6'.
If I had 5 acres tilled, I'd leave half giant ragweed/weeds and mow the other half for the clover.
Deer flat mow down giant ragweed wherever it pops up at my farm.
Hummingbirds are fond of them. They're blooming as the hummingbirds are arriving back from their migration.
I'd put them low on the list of overall value tho, but they are valuable enough to keep a few for diversity.
Arkansas black is a good apple tree for November. You’ll need a couple other types of apples to pollinate tho since it’s a triploid so it won’t pollinate anything but can receive pollen.

I have and they're doing okay...bouncing back from some herbicide over spray.
I'd recommend the joint. I've done a few different orders and they were great seedlings received each time.
30-06 crab from Northern Whitetail Crab is holding its first fruits still. Another that holds later on this site is Arkansas black.
