MO has never been high on age structure talks. The majority of deer hunters in MO would like to shoot a big buck, but don't want to be hindered in the pursuit of such. If they really wanted bigger deer, they would have voted for a later season instead of apr's....MO hunters like their rifles...

They hold their leaves like a swamp white oak does.

I'd suspect it has to do with how many acorns they obtain on any given yearly basis to grow. That could vary considerably on some years.

Wow If Morse sells out on seedlings, I'll have to start growing some of those.

I have a row of trees with acorns if anyone wants to get'em the old fashioned way. They're PREDOMINATELY swamp white oaks when it comes to traits, but a few have some good fall color to them.

I've never noticed the Virginia Stickseed browsed, but the tick trefoils (desmodium species) get mowed down.

That's always a hard pill for the landowner to swallow when market corrections make the current cash rent rate unfeasible. That can also affect prices since some landowners could decide a given farm isn't worth keeping.

This was interesting about 2020.... This county in NM had picked the winning president for 17 straight elections....they took the Don by 9 points in 2020 which broke the streak that started in 1952...

I’m planning on some rain, and the field I’ve already prepped has good soil moisture in it. If you don’t have that yet and can’t water; I’d wait till fall.
