I went to BH209 because I can shoot 10 times and not have to swab my barrel. Accuracy stays the same. It also seemed like with every batch of 777 pellets I bought they would shoot different. Not a huge difference but different. Either one works.
The BH209 breech plug was much different on my CVA compared to the standard. The pellet breech plug had a flat base with small hole going through it. The BH209 breech plug has a well extending into the breech plug for the powder to sit. I have never had an issue with BH209 yet.
I was amazed...

I would probably die of a heart attack if I won.
I agree with the blackhorn 209 breech plug and Barnes 290 or 250 grain Barnes TMZ. I am not a fan of powerbelts as I used to shoot them. Seemed like I rarely got a pass through and blood wasn't all that great. Dropped quite a few with them but I also had a few fizzle out the barrel as well...
Thanks guys. I am already planning to buy the nutmeg version next year for my all stainless Tikka T3 22-250 for coyotes. I might have to bring this slug gun out for coyotes Daver, it shoots good enough for it :)
I finally broke down and bought a boyd's thumbhole for my savage 220 in forest camo and love the way it looks. I thought I would share a picture of it. The stock dropped right in perfect and it feels great in the hands! Now if I could just find a stainless trigger guard for it.
The hornady xtp and sst are tack drivers but I never had a good blood trail. I shoot barnes tmz 250 grain out my cva accura V2 and it is a tack driver. I am going to switch to the 290 grain next year as I only have 3 left.
For the comment about needing to sight in gun a little bit each year...
Shooter older does if you want the population to drop quicker. Shoot younger does if you do not want it to drop as quick. I love shooting that old doe that is constantly on pins and needles and just looking to bust you.
That is great Jay!!! I need to lose a bunch of weight as well. A sales job always on the run and eating poorly combined with low exercise is doing me in. I need to change my lifestyle as well. Congratulations!!
Ive never tried the HBS as I am pretty sure my clumsy self would fall out the tree. I never really have seen the need for it. The only two items I add if it gets like 20 below out is a vest and artic shield boot covers to my current set up. I have the cabelas whitetail extreme mt050 bibs and...
