    DECAPITATION!!

Suppose a taxidermist could do a full body mount right with the head right at the first flip? Good job on the multiple set-ups. I imagine you can set up and take down that Double Bull like an Indy crew can change tires.

Tomo, Great job and congrats to Erin. She may not have shot the arrow but that's definitely her bird!

    Proposal Debates

Access seems to be the greatest barrier to taking higher numbers of does where it's needed most. Out of state landowners are probably practicing at least some QDM, so the bigger problem (IMO)is with leased land. I think there needs to be greater regulation of outfitters who are leasing land...

Awesome Kansas Hunt (Now w/ photos)

Danno -- North & east of Ft. Riley JNRBronc -- Yep, Wild Turkey! We almost didn't bring a big enough bottle! We only get into that when the bird's down and we're done (hunting) for the day!

Awesome Kansas Hunt (Now w/ photos)

Got back Saturday from a three-day hunt on private land in Kansas. Three of us scored six birds ... it was unreal!! Sorry this is long, but we had lots of action. The first morning (Weds) we split up and at 6:36 a.m., my buddy Bob had four toms come in right off the roost. He ended up taking...

    Stupid Turkeys!!!

As many have said, don't give up! If for no other reason, it's great to be able to go hunting in the spring and while it can be frustrating, it can also be a lot of fun. The first two years, I hunted on my own without success, then the final day of 4th season that second year, I went with a...

    2006 Tom

Nice bird and photos! Had to be a rush having that many birds so close by. I'll be hunting in Kansas a week from tomorrow and hopefully they'll be bunched up like that down there. I can't wait!!

    Cool pot calls

There's an extensive thread on Iowa Outdoors site about these pot calls. Lights Out Calls Quite a few of the guys over there swear by them. Figure a guy can never have too many calls.

Proposed DNR & NRC Rule Changes

Limb, Thanks for bringing attention to this. I posted the same information on Wednesday (see My post) but it didn't draw the same interest. Also, it's the DNR that set up the site to offer comments ... not that Limb isn't Web saavy, but I don't think he has access to the DNR's server.

    NNNNNNNoooooooooo

For me, this is like deja vu all over again. Not to date myself, but when I was in school, we were saddled with Ken Trickey and Lynn Nance after the untimely death of another great Iowa coach, Maury John who left a successful program at Drake. After suffering through miserable seasons that also...

    new turkey hunter here

Ditto to all that's been said. I hunted some with a friend early on and it helped a lot. Probably the biggest thing I learned (the hard way) was to stay put. If you've got a bird you think is coming in, sit until you think it's time to leave ... and then stay put another 30 minutes. I...

    Good pickins for spring

I'm surprised they haven't run the tree rat off. Maybe waiting to find out where he hid the acorns!

    Turkey Hunting Guns

If you're thinking about the Nova, check out the Stoeger P-350 instead. It's built almost identical but is less money. You can get a black synthetic stock version with 5 choke tubes (incl. x-full turkey) for about $250. Full camo will run you about $300.

Party hunting for archery and muzzleloader season?

Re: Party hunting for archery and muzzleloader sea Have to add another pair of NO's to this thread. It makes absolutely no sense for bow hunting and there's already enough opportunity to party hunt without screwing up late muzzleloading season. For me, the attraction of late muzzle is the...
