I have a 1 acre food plot that is fairly secluded on a farm i hunt in southern iowa. For the last 4 years I have planted turnips with average success. Each year the turnips have turned out pretty decent as far as growth is concerned. They normally hit them pretty hard during bow season. From...
Sorry been busy. We found the buck only 50 yards from last shot in brush. The shot was dead center of body. I would say guts and maybe liver. Kinda crazy how it unfolded.... dropping the bucks in it’s tracks and having him get up and run off. Not much of a blood trail.
Do you think he grazed the spine and that’s what dropped him? With a gun bullet grazing the spine there is no way a buck could get up is there? I could see a broad head grazing the spine and the deer getting up but a bullet I would think would make him not be able to get up?
I find it odd that it dropped him in its tracks. He didn’t seem to run the best after the first shot. It was also odd that the buck stopped 100 yards after the first shot after he had been dropped the first shot and shot at another time while running away. If he wasn’t hurt bad you would think...
My dad shot a nice buck tonight. It was 100 yards away broadside with his head up. He shot him with a bushmaster 450 and it dropped him in his tracks instantly. The buck laid there and kicked for 5 seconds then got back up and didn’t run full speed but on a trot and looked to be in pain. The...
To you guys that bought Red Rock outdoors at scheels... what size did you get? Is it loose fitting? I am wanting to pull it over clothes in early season but also have the ability to throw it over bulky wool bibs in late season.
In the market for a new pole saw. Anybody have a Hooyman 40 volt Lithium Pole saw? If so, do you like it? I have a regular pole saw but not a battery one. Wears and guy out running the manual saw.
I’m not a big shotgun hunter and elect late season muzzleloader over shotgun. I am considering shotgun hunting this year. I have read the regulations and am trying to find clarification on this issue. Here is an example of a question I am trying to find an answer to. Say I will be hunting a farm...
i personally think the key to having good rut hunts is being able to identify the exact location of a doe bedding area and setting up on the down wind side of it. Eventually mature bucks will swing around the downwind side and check them. Some of the properties I hunt I have struggled with...
I just bought a muddy gunner blind. I have a 1 acre turnip plot that I plan to hunt the 1st weekend of 2nd shotgun season. Do you think it would be too late to put it up and make the bucks a little skittish? I can get away with brushing a pop up ground blind and making it disappear into a cedar...
what is your guys experience with 2nd season shotgun hunting during morning hunts? I hunt an area that doesn’t get much gun pressure so not many deer get pushed in. With the rut being over is it worth sitting for mornings hunts? If so what would your strategy be? Do you guys see many mature...
It looks like the Vortex Diamondback 10X42 binoculars are going to be marked down from $220 to $120 for black friday. Anybody have any positive or negative remarks on these?
