Post the results for sure. I have a drill and it would be easier with that.
20 pounds an acres sounds like a high seed rate but I can’t remember the seeds per pound. 1 got 3 plots planted Mother’s Day and a couple more this past weekend.
Would there be support for legislation that would only allow each Iowa resident to only Harvest a maximum of 2 Bucks per year. There would still be floating Landowner tags and your state wide tags but only 2 of which could be filled with antlered Deer.
To allow technology to go unchecked we...
Interesting conversation for sure. I had a lot of first hand knowledge of the Monroe Co Winke farm. I sold the approx 400 acre part to him. We did well on that farm and he did also until the EHD of 2012. Then it seemed like the top end never was there like the “old days“
The comment on...
Another thought on the property that I spoke of ,is the possibility that the high end deer we hunted there were actually much older 6,7,8. The mentality that 5 years old makes it a shooter and the constant EHD is part of the problem.
Thanks for the feedback on the podcast. Always interesting to see how the conversation goes. One thing that could make the 3% Harvest by non residents inaccurate is any deer taken by party hunting would be registered as a "Resident" harvest.
My vote would be to go on the offensive next season and do away with all landowner tags. Understand this comes from some one that owns almost 1000 acres and can for sure capitalize on this change.
Who was the sponsor of this and how did it move so quickly and unknown? In principal it makes sense. With all the other inclusion of things that make harvest easier this will only lead to less mature deer on the landscape. Maybe time for the removal of landowner tags all together.
Mine that was planted last year is has about 4 inches of new growth on it as of last Saturday. if the grass that is competing is annual grass like foxtail try Quinclorac.
We plant a lot with either the 4 or 8 row 30” JD 7000. depending on the size. Normally burn down then notill. The clearfield traited seed will give more options for broadleave weeds. We always spray Metoclor as a preemergent. i have never changed the population from its normal setting of 32,000...
The off market deals do happen quite a bit. If a seller lists with an Agent that is not a member of an MLS then they can keep it to themselves or market it in any way they see fit. If the listing agent is a member of a local MLS the listing must be online within 24 hours of the signed listing...
I am a our United Country Realestate Conference right now in Texas. This has been the main topic of conversation. After sitting in hours of meetings my understanding is that this whole case revolves around offers of compensation on the MLS. The settlement states that offers of compensation can...
If you were going to change the question to “What would 80 acres of timber cost“? I would think Iowa and Illinois would be similar followed by Missouri then Kansas. A lot of variables in each State, a lot of the difference would be the amount of Property for sale “supply”.
Removing all bait/feeding from Sept 1 thru the end of the season would be the best way to manage this going forward. Hunting over bait is one of the most common poaching issues I see. It always amazes me to see how brazen some people are with it. With all the CWD concerns I am surprised they...
It was a strange deal we first got pictures in mid Oct near Mystic then we had him in early Nov near the Albia Airport. Then in mid/late Nov we had him back at Mystic. This was 16 miles straight line distance. I am sure you can shoot Elk if they are your property same as a Whack-A-Pet hunting...
The elk that was posted in a few of the above posts I had pictures of on a farm near Mystic and a farm near Albia it was the same Bull for sure. our Monroe county Game warden said it was shot east of Albia trying to get INTO an elk pen.
i would say focus 75% on the need for building a strong defense to prevent change. The 25% could be to advocate for one change that may do the most good for the entire state. If I was to pick one thing it would be remove the late doe season.
