Skip that looks incredible, that's a dream pond!
I've been spending my spring shed hunting (found 53 so far), doing my first TSI ever (quite the learning curve), preparing almost 7 acres of ground for plots this spring/summer, and prepping to hit the lake chasing some spawning largemouth.
This sounds EXACTLY like my areas. Combinations of cedar/locust/honeysuckle. Does it make sense to drop the locust all the way to provide some ground level cover?
Also curious if it makes sense to eradicate the honeysuckle before doing any TSI work? I would assume that would be the smartest.
It's less than ideal but topography helps with access. I'll try to add a photo that gives a better idea of the terrain. Access from neighbors isn't an option as everyone else hunts. I'll have standing corn for a visual screen. This year I used our Ranger a lot for access and it seemed to work...
I'd love to do exactly that. What you can't tell from the aerial image in the terrain, so unfortunately food plots aren't an option there. The yellow areas have some pretty serious slopes. I just checked topo maps, the open areas have over 75' of drop from the highest point. (This doesn't...
So what's your recommendation on what to replace it with? Skip as you're aware my entire farm has been pastured for 20+ years and the cattle just got pulled out in early November.
I'm really wanting to drill 10-12 acres of CRP habitat but I'm being told by the NRCS that I absolutely have to...
I’m curious what everyone’s opinion is on honeysuckle. I’ve got an 80 acre farm that’s got significant honeysuckle pressure. What’s unique is the habitat is significantly different on different parts of the farm.
The NRCS and NWTF are telling me to irradiate 100% of it.
The main concern I’ve...
This problem exists in all politics. When you have a group of individuals setting rules/regulations for something they don't understand you're going to have issues. I believe our education system is a fine example of that.
It’s not a gun you’ll want to shoot all afternoon that’s for sure. I doubt my wife would enjoy shooting it. But if you’re prepared & really settle in tight it’s not bad.
I bought one and have been super impressed. I haven’t shot it long range yet but was stacking sabots at 150 yards. Not that that’s impressive but it’s everything I’ve expected so far. I talked to guys at 3 different Scheels, all of them said the same thing. Completely blown away. Everyone of...
I think watching some of The Hunting Public videos would give you some great insight into hunting pressured public land deer. Hunt hard and keep moving. Sitting still probably won't yield the results you're looking for unless it's a really unique piece of public property that didn't get hammered...
I used the Scheels version last year. I'm 6' 0", 200 lbs and got the L/XL I believe and it fit well over my Sitka late season gear. Def would be big earlier in the year.
I replaced it just a couple weeks ago with an upgraded version. Got the Arcturus Ghost suit off of Amazon & haven't used it...
