Depending on how much cutting you plan to do in a day I would say look at a Milwaukee hatchet. If you're planning on a lot of cutting my Stihl MS 194T has worked great for me.
I agree with the others. Unless he is shooting multiple bucks a year, it probably isn't hurting much. If he's just looking for meat I'm not sure why he doesn't just shoot a doe, but he can do what he wants . . .

It sounds like I am in the minority, but I would shoot him. You don't get that many chances at deer that big.
Unless you have a number of bucks that size on the wall and are really wanting a 200incher and have the ground to protect him you may regret it.

How long do you think it will be until we have a statewide season for bobcats? We are seeing a lot more in Benton County lately and I hear more and more about them up North.
Maybe I am wrong. I'm sure this group will let me know. Back in the day when we all had to apply for tags through the mail and it was tough to get an any sex tag it was a little more challenging to get meat.
I could be wrong about this too, but back then it seems like there were a lot more...
