Got the age results on my late muzzleloader buck

The last few years there hasn’t been as much gun pressure on the neighbor’s so hopefully the bucks have a chance of living a little longer.

Got the age results on my late muzzleloader buck

Here’s a pic of the buck. Anyone want to take a stab at the age before I post a pic of the results? Curtis, can’t answer because he already knows.

    Fun hunt in crappy weather

I’ve killed quite a few turkeys, only a few have had spurs like this. To have both in a double have them is pretty awesome. I think I’ll make something for my son with them.

    Fun hunt in crappy weather

Not the best pics…trying to hurry while my angry 4 year old wanted to go in the house. Also, not the most photogenic since I was fishing them out of the garbage. Lol!

    Fun hunt in crappy weather

After grinding on some public ground Friday and Saturday, my son and I headed to the farm last night to hunt this morning. We’ve had some close calls and a blown opportunity on the public, so we were ready for a change. With the weather being less then ideal for his birthday hunt, we decided to...

    Norway spruce tree planting issues

Could it be from iron chlorosis? I thought some evergreens will get it.

    Best Muzzleloader Bullet?

If you’re only hunting late muzz when it’s nice, you’re missing some of the best hunting. Two problems with whoever is the fair weather hunter…hunting late muzz January 18…and taking a half hearted shot. If you’re not actually trying you just shouldn’t shoot…period!

What u doing now deer hunting related?

I’m saving the castors….unfortunately the price of castor has dropped from $65-$70 a pound to $25-$30 if you can even sell it. Currently have close to 8 lbs.

What u doing now deer hunting related?

Not deer hunting related, but I’ve been trapping beavers. And most days my 4 year old daughter is my trapping partner. The beav in the second pic weighed 68 lbs.

    Best Muzzleloader Bullet?

For whatever reason, the SST’s through my slug gun are absolute hammers! Not in the muzzleloader though.

    Best Muzzleloader Bullet?

Hornady SST 250 grain. This was the shot that put down my buck after I spined him. I love the accuracy but I’m making a change next year, to a bullet that actually expands.

    1 Buck state In iowa??

I’d be for it. I shot 2 bucks this past year, but hadn’t killed one in a few years. Are you proposing 1 buck tag, good for all seasons?

    Coon Trapping Kits

And if you trap in the water with pocket sets, you can catch all sorts of stuff I’ve personally caught coons, muskrats, mink, beaver, possums, and otters in pocket sets.

    Coon Trapping Kits

I also had 1 night where I caught 9 that I assume we’re heading to her house. Lol!!!!

    Coon Trapping Kits

I use cheap, regular old dry cat food. Stick the trap smack dab in the middle of a hot trail, come back and collect your coon the next day. And remember to gang set, if you have enough traps….my personal best was 5 outta 6 over the course of 50 yards. Major coon trail going from the timber to...
