    1st elk hunt, clothing??

    I picked up some First Lite gear for my first backcountry elk hunt last year. We were packing in a ways and were camping. I would say boots and that first lite merino wool were some of the better investments for my trip. Never got stinky, dried out in a hurry, and seemed like you were always the...

    Rainfall amounts

    It is a fairly accurate program. It goes off of radar estimated precipitation amounts, which can vary from actual numbers, but it will get you in the ballpark.

    Women advice

    Oh how I know a similar situation...... I've had a couple deer heads on the apartment walls since we were dating so she knew full well before we got married that they would hang somewhere. It was brought up many a time, "how many deer heads do you intend to have?" My typical response was...

    Cheap cams- best

    Check out the browning ranger I think it's called. Super easy setup (switches instead of programming), around a hundred bucks, great day or night pics, and the videos have sound. I will be replacing my bushnell trophy cams with these.

    Bees

    I had a big long post written up about organic vs. conventional, guns vs. bows and arrows, putting garbage in your body, the wussification of America, and how walking instead of driving would solve a lot more diseases and problems than are ever caused by GMO's. How it relates to the declining...

    Tents?

    I don't have much experience with them, but what would the advantage be to going with a tipi style tent vs. a regular backpacking tent with a connected floor and windows? Seems like most people with bottomless tents end up packing a tarp for the floor anyway, so why not have one connected? I've...

    Walleyes Biting?

    Just looking for some fishing reports. I've heard that the walleyes are biting pretty good on Storm Lake and Brushy Creek. Anyone have some first hand accounts?

    public ground trees

    Yeah I know where you are talking about. I've seen quite a few deer in there these last few years as well. Hopefully it's for the best. I know over at Jean's place they had to cut all their little saplings and stuff down because the DNR saw them growing via satellite, but that was a much smaller...

    public ground trees

    Happens on both the public, and the private property enrolled in any kind of wetlands or crp program. Any trees that grow up are "supposed" to be cut down. There are a lot of private land owners that get away with letting them grow, but some aren't so lucky and the DNR will come out and tell you...

    G5 Havoc

    Well, in the open position, yes I guess it would look relatively similar. Although, if you look at it while it's in the "in flight" position, it's much more like a 2 blade version of the T3 with a rage type tip. Mechanism is quite a bit different as this appears to be much shorter than a rage...

    Vexilar or Marcum

    Went on a trip to devil's lake earlier this year, and we had vexilars (8, 18, and a 20) and a humminbird ice 55. I would say having the them side by side, I preferred using the humminbird. No experience with Marcum. I have the FL8 and it works fine.

    Frost Line = Water issues

    Keep in mind if you are out in the country and have a septic tank, running your water at a trickle could put excess water content in your septic tank and cause it to freeze up. Not a good situation at all.

    Elk hunting pack

    I've got a badlands 4500 and it's pretty good. When we went out to Idaho last year, one of the guys had a new Tenzing. I don't remember the number, but I thought it was better than what I had. They make some really nice stuff.
