If the deer is calm, feeding, and in the open I will take a shot out to 40 yards providing I know the exact distance. I practice out to 60 yards and feel it makes me a much better shot at shorter ranges. I set up all my stands and blinds for the 10-20 yard chip shots. I like sure things.

Muddy...I was using a Cabelas F3 100 grain head. The cutting diameter isn't huge, but it did cut a nice hole. They fly great, super sharp, and only $20 for 6.

I shot this buck on Oct. 5 after watching him from a distance for 3 days and then moving in when the wind was right. I have trail cam photos of the buck in June and Sept. I also have a little video footage of him from a few days before and lots of video of him from the 2004 season. Good luck...

As far as compact hand held lights go, I haven't seen anything beat a surefire. Seems like a lot of law enforcement agencies use either surefire or streamlight. Once you have one shined in your face you realize why.
