I doubt you will get the folks at Wal-Mart or wherever you buy tags to want to check tax forms (even though it is a good idea). A landowner should register with the DNR with proof of ownership and have to send in for the tag. I know it is extra work, but you need to eliminate the salespeople...
Seems like there are more and more people getting landowner tags that don't even own land. Until there is a system used to identify actual landowners when they get the tag, the system will still be abused, regardless of the required acreage.
Yeah, have the college students pay for it. When I went to the U of I in ten years ago, the cost was about $6000/year. It is probably triple that with another 10% by now. I am still trying to pay it off. Better yet, let's quit paying the dang coaches hundreds of thousands a year. I say...
I see your point 150class. I guess I see it as a way of getting a tag that I already buy at a cheaper cost, and the money is being used for a good cause. Nobody is necessarily wrong, just looking at it from all directions.
"I hate to sound selfish but why should I donate my dough so some other hunter can get free processing to feed someone for free 120 miles from my place? HUSH doesn't help thin the herd in my area at all."
For some reason I don't think that statement represents the hunting community very...
I do like the fact that it would:
1) Help those in need.
2) Provide at least a basic qdm plan.
3) Save me $21 bucks for my 1st 2 tags.
The positives definatley outweigh the negatives, but if the res. are doing it, the nr should do it too. I don't think the managment plans always have to be...
I don't mind the $5 because I always buy a couple doe tags and this would save a few dollars. What I don't like is that I would have to shoot a doe first. I generally wait and shoot does later in the season when the weather is colder and I can hang them for a while. I personally don't see the...
Well, it finally happened. Somebody must have been fed up and tore the TIP sticker off my truck windshield. Oh well, they weren't able to get the number off my cell speed dial! Wish they would have tried. Guess I will have to pick up a few more in Des Moines this March. Just thought I...
I think those getting into bowhunting now have some great opportunities. With the available doe tags, a person can get several deer in one season. Years ago, you had one tag and it took several years to get several deer under your belt. The most important thing is to keep it fun. Practice...
This bow is being made by a company right here in Iowa. The name is RDT and it stands for Reverse Draw Technology. The design of this bow allows for the "power stroke" or draw length if you will to be increased from the 14"-15" avg. of a crossbow to 19 1/4" on the RDT. Increases speed and...
I was wandering what you all are planting this spring. Seems like beans did really well this summer and made a very good late season plot as well. Anyone use any of the biologic blends in the summer?
I have hunted there 4 times. The White River National Forest is a huge area. Aren't all the blackpowder tags a draw? Applications haven't been sent out yet? You will have great time but let me warn you. Get as far from any road as you can. Lots of campers and tents along the old jeep...
