I would suggest the heated socks also. Otherwise maybe those arctic shield booties that go on over your boots when you get to the blind would help as well
Dad and I sat Saturday and Sunday. Saw does and a couple little guys, but numbers were way down here. I know there are at least a couple good ones that ehd didn't get. Going to need colder weather to bring them in to our food plots. Hopefully catch up with them late muzzleloader.
It seems guys that go corn first year after crp have to use a mold board plow and I hate having to use one. Makes everything so soft and prone to erosion. Much easier to do beans year one
I was after the coons pretty good this summer. Declared war when we saw a few very large patches of corn destroyed. Think the count was around 150 when we quit right before harvest.
Found 2 dead bucks doing fieldwork today. Never had anything this bad before. Just when we were getting the local population built up some. Really sucks.
Just watched a buck run a doe up and down a fence line for 10 minutes before she jumped the fence and they both disappeared. Too far away to tell if it was a young or mature buck. Didnt remember to put binos in the tractor this morning.
I hadn't seen a mature buck all fall while farming. Saw one yesterday afternoon and another one this morning. Also pulled a dead doe out of our pond this morning. Been dead a while.
We had one like that last year that came out of the corn we were combining. Was small enough it sprawled out in the stalks to hide instead of running for cover. This was a long ways from any timber. I assumed the doe got bred really late because she lived so far from other deer.
I'm in east central. South of waterloo. West of cedar rapids. We farm on both sides of a bike trail that is really good cover and refuge for the birds.
I said the same thing last year, and it's true again this year. Seeing a lot more birds while combining corn than years past. Even saw quite a few doing beans which don't see them often. Also saw birds on farms where we never used to.
Have found a couple fawns while harvesting that are very recent deaths. Neighbor showed me a picture of one of my top target bucks found a few days ago and dnr says ehd. I just hope it didn't wipe out a bunch more.
I use an android phone. I text myself the pictures and save the pictures from text which resizes the pictures automatically. Kind of a pain in the butt, but it works.
Hope they figure out who he is and nail him. I got no time for trespassers. Caught a neighbor in March on my trail camera trespassing on his ranger and tried to deny it till I sent him the picture.
