I've shot two deer almost directly under my stand. Both shots put the buck down within 75 yards. I know it's frowned upon by some but I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.
I'm still at it. I haven't even seen a shooter while in the stand and I've put in a lot of hours. I've seen great rut action this year but nothing mature. I will continue to bow hunt every chance I get until gun season but then I'm hanging it for the year. Good luck to all still at it.
I think there are a lot of variables. In my experience in my area you have about a two week period where the mature bucks let their guard down and become killable. The later it gets into November they start transitioning back to more nocturnal activity. I'm not saying it's not possible to kill...
I've never tried a climber but have tried my brothers stand and sticks (xop).
I like it and hate it. It's nice to have in a pinch but it's a pain in the ***.
First off it's heavy. Sucks lugging that thing in with all your other gear. By the time you get to where you are going you will be...
Good sit this morning. Was covered in bucks (12 I believe) until I had to climb down at 9.
This evening the deer were active as well. Think I seen 10 (4 bucks) but the biggest was a 120" 8pt following a doe.
Made it until 1130 lol. The farm owner started combining the field I was hunting so I bailed. Two small bucks. One at 930 and one at 10. Card pull showed target buck is still nocturnal.
I've never been able to make it. I'm telling myself tmrw is the day lol. I will be in the thick stuff about 50 yards down wind of the bedding. Hopefully there's some cruising going on to keep me occupied.
My problem is that I have a camera about 50 yards upwind of my stand and I what point do I...
He couldn't tell where he hit it? Was the deer broadside or quartering?. I hope all ends well and you find the deer but I'm guessing brisket. Good luck in your search and like others have said......... take your dog for a walk. Good work on not giving up.
