Thank you all for your kind words. A true Iowa giant. I cannot wait to get him on the wall. Although every year will not be this good, I think I am hooked on traditional archery. The thousands and thousands of arrows shot over the past years paid off.
This year I worked hard on the land to plant food plots and enhance habitat on the farm that I hunt. I planted nearly 3 acres of food plots and ran cameras since the beginning of spring turkey season. I knew I had some nice bucks running around the farm, and I set my sights on a few different...
Well I thought I would send an update. I had a shot on the drop tine buck the first night at 12 yards...Problem was...It was 10 min past shooting light.. It was fun watching and attempting to video him...but he was a safe.. A few nights later hunting my other food plot around dark the old...
Thanks guys.... I will go after the first one for sure... But I think passing the drop will be hard. I am hunting recurve only this year so it will make it tough regardless. I hate the "orange army" and stay off the land during those weeks to help create a sanctuary.
That's what I was thinking....I feel as though either will be hard to pass. The double drop came by last night but I was out of camera light. Hopefully they keep coming by. Both are new to the farm this year.
This year I planted approx. 3 acres of food plots on the property I hunt. It seems to have pulled a large number of deer back onto the property (post EHD). This year I have been running cameras hard, and I have had these two bucks since spring turkey season. Each buck has its benefits, but...
A hunting dream of mine has always been to manage land for wildlife. An opportunity finally presented itself to me, and I had the opportunity to put in food plots on the 160 acre farm I hunt. The landowner was excited about my passion for animals and wanted to help support as much as possible...
Alright, maybe fair was not the right word...More difficult. I guess one of the reason's that I am switching this year is because of how hard EHD hit my main hunting ground. Last year I had 23 confirmed dead whitetail on my 140 acre farm. This year, we have had some new deer move onto the...
Just wondering how many Iowa hunters attempt to take deer with a long bow or recurve? For the past 3 years I have been practicing with a long bow...mostly for backup purposes. Last year was the first year I felt confident enough to try and harvest a deer. I was successful after many many...
I just got word from the taxidermist that my 2012 archery buck just got done. I haven't actually taken possession as the work was done in NE iowa and I am in central Iowa. My father snapped a few photos...I think he turned out pretty good. The taxidermist was really pleased with how he turned...
A good friend of mine had a great elk hunt this year and submitted his story to a magazine. Great story, thought I would share.
