Looks like everyone is trying to throw their hat in the "Bow" ring...
Personally I'd rather see companies specialize in a couple products, and make them the best in the marketplace. Of course sometimes larger corporations will swoop down and gobble them up. What once was an innovative and...

I am saying that to use the word harvest when talking about an individual animal sounds silly and it sounds to a non-hunter like we are trying to hide the fact that we actually just took a life. I beleive that is counterproductvie to our cause. I do not think that is in the best...

...I think you would be surprised if you took the time to identify a NR landowner, approach him, and work out a situation where you will hunt and help with the property; I think many would gain permission.

Muddy,
I had the same problem just this morning. I run Adaware for spyware protection, and I immediately checked its last quarantine selection, which had included iowawhitetail as a suspicious site because of its attempt to "hijack the browser"? Anyhow, I just had the program reinstate the...
Keep it up guys, they are listening. It only takes a few minutes to draft an email. I'd also strongly suggest that we make a phone call, at least to our own state Reps/Senators, and better yet to the people on the NRC.
And thanks for making a huge difference by doing so!

...What's the difference between asking permission from a resident or NR, permission still has to be had.

The resident is most likely a farmer, and is more than happy to give you permission to take some does off his...

...This is just my opinion and I can't prove it just like you can't prove that changing the law will cause a land rush by nr's.

Right now there is a limit to how many tags a NR can purchase - put simply, the number...
Re: Non Res Landowner Permits, may be on the Table
The issue has never been Residents vs. Non-residents, and it never should be. The struggle every year will be how to protect and preserve the quality of deer hunting in Iowa. Our state legislators are continually pressured by insurance...
I believe when the time comes we need to organize and contact our State Reps with first an email, secondly a phone call, and finally a hand written letter. I know it sounds like a lot of work, but just think about how much you enjoy spending time in the woods, tooling around in your garage...
Re: Iowa bill to rise non resident deer tags from
How many years has it been since they raised the price of resident tags in Iowa? 10? 20? I honestly do not know, but if revenue is such a priority and given that many hunters support an increase (in order to keep non-resident tags at the current...
Re: Iowa bill to rise non resident deer tags from
I sincerely believe that if we allowed non-resident landowners to hunt every year that the situation would actually become much worse than simply increasing the number of non-resident tags; worse even than a substantial increase in non-resident...

I can understand the passion on both sides of the fence, but if you examine the issue historically, by that I mean the manner in which an influx of hunters was handled by other states(TX, IL,etc.) I think Hood is correct in the "money"...
Re: Iowa bill to rise non resident deer tags from
It has come to my attention that some folks (resident hunters) are getting paid to "guide" non-residents in their quest to shoot a big Iowa buck. I've also heard that they, more often than not, will take paying non-residents onto property they...

Ditto. I have had nothing but excellent results shooting 250gr Shockwaves, 100gr loose 777 powder. Of course I also have a MH Knight Rifle, which just might make a difference
Re: Iowa bill to rise non resident deer tags from
I just wanted to make it clear that I am in no way against non-resident hunters. The fact is that Iowa has become a great place to hunt whitetails because of responsible tag allocation. There is no question in my mind that if we increase NR...
Re: Iowa bill to rise non resident deer tags from
We need to be vigilant IMO. No compromise on our parts. Their entire argument for increasing NR tags is completely unfounded on logic. They want to accomplish two things:
