    Weird Year

Pretty much what I've been viewing as well, letemgrow. A lot of juvenile bucks, but that's usually the case during the earlier stages of the rut. Its definitely a good sign and will just have to be patient to experience the fruit of all the changes that have taken place. my area, in particular...

    Weird Year

The only Buck I've witness worth harvesting is while driving to my hunting spot. I've witness far less Does numbers, as well. A lot factors can be attributed to that, though. It is very tough to see, but I think we are on the right track for having the deer herd get back to levels most want as...

DSM backyard buck - what would he score?

My reply wasn't meant to offend. Was just replying to something he wrote earlier in his post. Dandy Buck would probably temp most people regardless of what he scores.

    The Fox

^ Sweet, Bill, I've spoken to others who do this, as well but didn't know for sure if that was what you were using the ropes for originally. Question: Are you going to mount this Deer, Bill? Personally think that you should if the finances are okay for you, but that's obviously your call...

DSM backyard buck - what would he score?

Agree with Lyon, But how do we know it's tame? Op, Does it let you give it a hug? Does it let you put a saddle on it and let you ride it like a pony? Does it readily come up and eat food out of your hand? Does it come up on your deck and want to be let in be fed, watered and sleep on your living...

    Cold-rut?

^ Wow, Were they both Typicals? Crazy how it's usually from a vehicle when you witness the most Deer movement.

    Grunt tube freezing up?

What's the name of the Particular call? I use a Buck Roar , and I keep it in my pocket for warmth until time to use. Also, do not keep the little black O-ring on the call. I take that off so I can make calls on it easier. I believe that would put on the trophy buck setting all the time and I can...

    Cold-rut?

GR - Most Definetly agree. If it means keep having the indian summers we've been having; I'll take it. HuntinPack - Most Definitely. MNBuck - How Big? That's Great to Hear and Makes me Hate NW winds even more!

    Cold-rut?

Very True, Loneranger. Glad you figured your ground out. At any rate.. This kind of setups like a late season hunt or stand hunting during when the orange army is out. You can bet great action early and late, but Deer also need to eat during the frigid times, and some may be out earlier when...

    The Fox

Great, thanks Bill :) a few Does bed on these very small acreages ,aswell, but it's really easy to disturb the ground. What do you use the ropes for? Are they like a temporary fence that keeps them on the trail towards your stand? or are they for something else?

    Cold-rut?

Okay, thanks for letting me know that - Bowtech. Some Decent news is it's suppose to be in the S, SE during time supposedly when most does are being bred. SE is Not the most Ideal wind, and will have to switch spots, but better than a NW wind most the time! Oh, and we were slated for a SW...

    Cold-rut?

Wow, really, that's interesting. What app is that? I hope your right. Re-checked the forecast and it showed NW. May just be based on location.

After 3 years the DT buck is down!

That is a STUD buck. It's amazes me how a bucks antlers change over time. You got find a way to incorporate those sheds with mount of this monarch. What a reward for all your hard work and admirable dedication.

    Cold-rut?

I'm mostly going by the weather channels forecast, Lovetohunt. It's been NW, or WNW here and will remain the same for awhile yet. I wonder if we'll get any accumulating snow. We're suppose to get snow showers, but weather or not it accumulates to anything... It should make great hunting for...

    Big One!

I agree, prefer it over the stoic expression . He seems like he obviously grateful for the Deer and truly enjoys the hunt. Makes you want to go up and shake his hand and ask for details of the hunt. Plus, his expression seems to state , " it sureee isssshh cold out here". hahaha

    The Fox

Bill, that's a great Deer ( I really mean that!). Very unique rack and very pretty cape and great accomplishment in the style of hunting. There are some smaller acreage that I hunt, aswell, and it can be a challenge to hunt them. What were some of the tactics that helped you be successful?

    Does bred?

^^ Same for me - It's been like that for me this 2014 season. I saw a maybe a button buck out in the field and when the full moon was out right before the cold front came through.. I saw a great buck going across the road, in front of me, while driving to my hunting spot. I couldn't believe it...
