    Does bred?

Loneranger, that's understandable. It helps if you eat a big meal before you get into the stand. Then eat little by little as it gets later on stand. It gives your body fuel to warm itself. If you have to go back to the truck and eat and warm up - Great. Any time on stand is better than most...

    Does bred?

+1 hoosier - Great thing is the Mature bucks should be moving greatly with this weather. The younger bucks may be starting to get worn from the immediation factor from the older, more physically gifted deer and lack of reserves caused from the earlier stages. Try rattling and Using your 'Can'...

    Alternative to a shoulder mount

There is quite a bit of options available. Wall pedestal is a good idea as Chappy referred to.. Another could be a floor pedestal mount with some foliage matching your hunting area incorporated into the mount. Another idea is stay with a traditional wall mount, but ordering a form converter that...

    Sickining

I think we're entering into 'Lockdown' Phase now. If not, than we are really close to it. Remember, that we've had multiple EHD Seasons that have taken a toll on mature buck herd and the herd is now in the process of rebounding from that, which may explain the number of younger bucks you are...

    Doed up...

very well could have something to do with it. Another factor could be that it's been so freaken windy, recently! For most of my spots deer seem to wait until the wind calms down a bit before they move. But I guess we're in Iowa after all, right? Hopefully, we catch a calm spell to where It'll...

    well this sucks!

Sorry to hear this, BDAHMS. It's a very scary thing in what you have, and hope your able to manage it. The above written by Td is what I was sort of thinking before he posted, as well. I'd be curious to know if you would happen to have any reactions if you were to only eat Organic Beef. It...

Looking for opinions on morning hunts

I use a HLamp, and recently decided to use a red filter ( transparent floral wrap--- like cellophane) over the front of the light. It's not as bright with the filter (unfortunately), but studies show that deer have problems viewing the red color spectrum (orange, pink etc.). Hopefully, it will...

    Doe Decoy

If you can.. Use a buck decoy with a doe decoy. They don't seem to spook as easily with the combination. They usually leave because there is no movement to the decoy, as well as may be picking up the scent off the decoy.

    SWI Pressure

Yep, I've notice an increase as well. Most of my spots have hunting neighbors close by. It can be great for the sport ( to an extent), but there are times that it can also make you want to take up a new hobby. I find its fun hunting around either Kids or Adults who have experienced quite a...

Keeping Stuff in the Tree Stand

I use a fanny pack, and man does it make a difference. Other items are either in the top pockets or on a assessory holder/s. I do sometimes keep a back pack with some items that aren't needed during the time on stand. You begin to realize quickly what gear is important and which items can stay...

    Lost land to lease..

Sorry to hear this, Mr. Deeds. I've been in a similar situation, and I can tell you that it is never an easy thing to go through. I would contact the landowner, as the others have said, and depending on what he says decide on what to do next. Personally, I would only ask the landowner if he...

    Confession of a scent freak

Agree, But Every little bit helps. You can play the wind, and still have deer not follow script and get down wind of you. A deer will smell you eventually, but we do all these steps ,each time out,to hopefully prolong the reaction time of a deer to our scent, just in case the deer gets down wind...
