Just call Laurie at GWW. I think after talking with her it will make up your mind.

Will we ever have a stable population of these?

Are you guys legally allowed to shoot them for now?

    Passing bucks and success rate

I don’t but we’ve only had one deer like him so I think the odds are good. Either way, I’ll shoot him. As far as other deer, I don’t keep close enough tabs on them to know. I have no interest in keeping up with them that close. I did pass up a nice 3.5 yo ten pointer a couple of years ago that...

Old post I know but the Grey Wolf Woolens is also worth looking at.

    Hearing protection???

Please take a look at the Howard Leight muffs. They are only about $59.00 a pair or at least the last time I bought them that’s what they cost. I ran a night time hog hunting outfit for years and that’s what I and my clients used. Never a problem with them and we used them often.

    Passing bucks and success rate

So, funny I replied then we got this picture. Here is a buck I passed 2 years ago as a 6. At that time, I think he was a 3yo. No pics of him last year but he just showed back up. He will not score well at at but he’s now 5.5 and I will gladly shoot him. No interest in the score.

    Passing bucks and success rate

I’m in Georgia but I hunt good land and it’s a large tract of timber. I get pictures of big bucks that I would shoot and pass many 3 yo hoping they get to 4 but they all seem to disappear. Had a bunch of shooters last year and many nice 3 yos but nothing on camera this year. For the most part...

You can't make this stuff up!

I last drew a NR bow tag up there in 2018 and I saw 5/6 of them in the week I was there. This was around Davis and Appanoose county.

    Absolute World Class Typical

While I would definitely shoot that (I know, who wouldn’t) I feel for the hunter. If giant bucks have taught us all one thing, it’s that many jealous people will get their lips poked out and start all kind of vicious rumors. I commented earlier but I’ll say it again, congrats to all involved.

Funny thing is they would have won without the weights.

    260 or 300 easton axis

260 no doubt. Seriously doubt it will be too stiff and even if it was I’ve never had a stiff arrow cause me issues. I once shot 300 spine arrows out of a 51lb bow with a 28” draw. I was using 175 grain German Kinetic heads and they flew like lasers.

    Crab apples?

Not sure about up there but down here in the south it’s hard to beat a persimmon.

    Thermal and IR Coyote Hunting.

Another thing concerning NV scopes that’s important is tube life. A tube for a Gen 3 device is good for roughly 10,000 hours. Not sure exactly what the tube life on Gen 2 is but probably half and Gen 1 may be 1000 if you’re lucky. So not only are you getting a significantly better scope with a...

    Clover

Ok. I agree with that but unless a plant is mature it should still be growing. Also, and you touched on this, is there needs to be moisture available to the plant/weed. A plant that is suffering from drought will not take up and get the chemical to the root as effectively as one that is well...

    Thermal and IR Coyote Hunting.

A really good NV scope is around $4000.00 Yes, there are cheaper ones that will work but after you have used/shot with a good one there’s no going back. You guys know a lot more about habitat management than I do. I was just trying to help you guys with something that I have experience with...

    Thermal and IR Coyote Hunting.

Hello all, I’m down in middle Georgia and ran a night time hog hunting business for years. In that time, I used both night vision and thermal. Night Vision is rated Gen 1,2, and 3 and with 3 being the best but not all Gen 3s are the same. Heres how to know if you’re getting a good one but it’s...

Out of state with 2 preference points?

Op, While no one wants you killing “their” buck the people of Iowa have always amazed me at their generosity when it comes to allowing someone to hunt. I would be surprised if you went out there in the summer and knocked on doors for a few days if you didn’t find somewhere to hunt. I wouldn’t...
