I would agree with Daver. You can always take the hard route if the nice way doesn't work. I think one of the most important things you can do is make friends with your neighbors. The extra sets of eyes on your place will really help.
I second that. His contributions to this site were enormous. I didn't know him personally but he seemed like a great man. I hope he is smiling knowing that his work lives on though many of us.
If you need to plant trees ( for screening, or food) plant asap......they take a long time to grow!! Also, better to plant a few and protect them then plant a lot unprotected.
Have to laugh I as read through this thread because I have made most of these mistakes over the years (never had a deer wake up in the truck !). I suppose the one that haunts me though is not waiting long enough after the shot before tracking. Lost one of my best bucks by following too soon...
